I'm trying to repair my bathroom facet handle that broke, but as you can see from the pictures there is a threaded pipe blocking the actual valve part I need to connect the new handle to. Does this pipe just unscrew? If it does, are the threads normal or reversed. I had a large pair of pliers and tried unscrewing it, but I couldn't get it to budge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.20221126_212009.jpg20221126_212016.jpg

That’s a Moen and the collection is called Monticello.

It uses an internal cartridge nut. It uses a notched tool made by moen to remove the cartridge nut and then the cartridge pulls out.

Do not try to unscrew the outside threaded brass, that’s where the handle screws on.

Once the cartridge nut is removed you just take a deck screw and run it into the stem and use pliers to yank it out.

The screw only needs to be long enough to hold and not strip out.
