Its honestly as simple as that. the upstairs shower is in the third story. its about 11 years old and the previous owners and the original constructor of the house did a beautiful job designing the house but the upstairs shower leaks into the closet down stairs. my roommates believe that its getting out of the shower (which by the way is a corner enclosure, the glass walls are approx 6'6" tall and the shower head is approx 6'7"/6'9" with a pivot door and a single setting shower head) which has a half inch slit underneath it allowing water to escape the ceramic floor/ semi tub it sits in and get underneath the tile it sits on. could it be possible the that the adhesive/caulk holding the tile in isn't tight enough to restrain the water? if not could i just re-caulk the shower and tile? and finally is there any chance my roommates are completely wrong and its actually the pipes that are leaking and if that is the case why doesn't it do that with the toilet no more than 3 ft away from the shower?

not looking for someone to answer all these questions but if you can answer as many as possible that would awesome?

pug off your drain in the shower.....from somewhere else fill the shower base submerging anything that could be suspect let it sit for an hour..that will rule out tile and grou tand the connection around the tub drain after drain it out.....(if it has not leaked ) pour water directly into the drain....only the drain......if no leak remove the shower plate
turn the shower on move the volume control to see if that leaks if that do not leak with the shower plugged off again fillthe shower base again...this time standing in the shower kind of bouncing on or near the drain...your checking for any flex or a loose nut on your shower drain.....then you could cap off your shower head and turn on the water....testing your pipes

lastly then you could soak your shower door to see if you get water out side on the floor...
