Bath Tub Faucet - turns only 90 degree in both direction. Should turn 180 in single direction

hope I am ale to describe it succinctly.
Bathtub faucet (Moen Model: T943 ) which should turn 180 degree from off position is now turning only 90 degree on one side (then stops ) and turns 90 degree another side (then stops). This started happening when it was turned too much from stop position by accident. I don't know if this might have broken some stop mechanism.
The moen model is T943. Could someone please tell what should I do to fix it. Thank you very much

Could the base nut have become loosened, or is it the stem only that is moving?

I suspect a new stem/cartridge would solve the problem

Either the handle stop or the stem handle stop is broken.

May need a new stem or a new handle or both.
