Around 3 AM, I heard this strange noise from my bathroom faucet. I investigated it, and it's just this loud hissing. I place my hand against the mouth, and it sucks backwards? I turned on all my valves in the house and the suction stopped on that one intake. Once I closed everything back, it continues. Any ideas? Checked most everything that I could, but no luck.

So was that bathroom faucet sucking air while it was in the closed position?

Did water come out of all the valves in the house when opened?

Is it just the hot or cold water side?

With ALL faucets closed is there any water flowing based on the water meter or sound?

your city water department must have been working on the main

if a main is opened, and it is at a lower elevation than you are, the water will run down hill due to negative pressure causing back siphon age
