OK so am ready to replace the valves under my bathroom's sink.

All the books say: use angled if pipes is off the wall and straight if off the floor.

Is there a functional reason for the choice? Because my pipes, while coming off the wall, is on the side and would make a cleaner install to use straight valves.

TIA.

Yes, this is completely an owner's preference taking into account a clean looking install, and installed so it doesn't take too much room under your cabinet.
