Aftermarket Shower Stem Kit

Another question...

I have replaced two sets of American Standard Colony series 3 handle shower stems in my house. Both went in well (other than diverter issue; see my other thread). Problem is, both have an issue with hammering shut when opening slightly. If you turn cold water on slightly, it’ll run for a bit and then hammer shut. I don’t think handle turns but water stops flowing with a clunk.

Both sets do this. Is there a way to alleviate this issue? Very annoying.

I should clarify, it’s not just when you open slightly. It happens every time we try to draw a bath for little one unless you crank all the way and we are always having to listen out so she doesn’t get burned due to cold water shutting off.
