I need to replace a sprinkler head (Rain Bird Maxi-Paw or equivalent) on my aerobic system, and have found that the outflow piping was laid too shallow to mount the pop-up head flush with the ground. I know zip about septic systems, plumbing and irrigation... any reason I shouldn't put a downward-facing tee on the line, then angle it off to one side and mount the head a few inches below the pipe (see attachment)?

A series of four ninety degree fittings, was traditional. Now a three foot long flex line. Any good turf and sprinkler supply store will have them.

you don't need to tape them.
