Hi, so in my basement I have 3 caps just wondering what they are.

Also, as I am a new homeowner, I am unsure of what this is called, if I need to do anything with them. Any help or link to previous threads would be appreciated!

Jay

The double i believe is a directional cleanout, you can run the snake both up and down stream. The other may be a cleanout for your storm but i am not real sure about that. You may want to pay someone to run a camera in them and maybe they can give you some info

So 3 are all near each other and are near the front if the foundation wall. There is also another pipe that come out near the front foundation was that is small like 2 inch, its in the pictures.

I am just wondering what the other pipe might be. Would you know where I could find more information on directionnel cleanout, I thought the two close together would be the sewer.
Thanks for your reply!

They all look like cleanouts to me. Did you ask the former owner?

Maybe code in your jurisdiction? Easy access point to the sewer? Check with your local township.

I do not understand what you mean that the 2 that are close are traps. Are you saying that this is a direction sewer valve that prevents backflow. Or is it some other type of valve. Also, would you recommend a website or other that teaches this type of information?

Let me know what you mean by that and if you have seen any similar question from other members if you could direct me towards them that would be very much appreciate!

It looks like what’s call house trap those covers are cleanout access to The trap if you were able to remove the covers water passes thru a u shaped fitting water is always in the trap keeping sewer gases out of any fixture that did not have a trap
Like I stated in the fist post they used these a LONG time ago.if you were to put dye in your drainyou would see it
Pass from one coverto the other you should. Be able to see a picture and probably a better description if you look it up

I would suggest you bring someone in maybe with a camera and maybe a local guy who has been in houses in the area. We are all just looking at pictures and really throwing something at the wall. Like Geofd said could be house trap, could be clean-out, could be a joker just stuck a pipe in the ground and the cement guys just poured around it.

Is this behind the washer/dryer, and is this a basement?

I am not saying it is, I am saying it COULD be a dryer vent
nly way to find out is to remove the plug and rod it, see where the end of the rod goes

we used to install dryer vents like that [we hated it]

I did a little more digging and there ia nothing when the plug is removed.

I do not want to call a plummer to have a look he will charge me a lot of moeny

Well then it is time to move on. The only way to really know is to have someone come in and investigate. Did you call around to companies to see what they would charge to run a camera.
