I own a condo with the following: 2-Tub/Shower Combo's, 2-Toilets, Dishwasher, Kitchen Sink, 4-Bathroom Sinks, 1-Patio Faucet. My unit is upstairs with an identical unit below (same fixture count). Each unit HAD it's own 3/4" feed with seperate shut-off vales about 30' away at the common meter box. HERE'S the problem. The downstairs unit had a leak in their line under the slab and after two days of attempting to locate and repair the line the plumbers deceided to abandon the downstairs feed and tee into our 3/4" feed so now both units share one feed, esscentially doubling the number of fixtures on one 3/4" line. Additional am I correct in thinking that because I am upstairs and if both units are using water, the downstairs unit gets more pressure? And ideas would be helpful!

Oh yeah, if it matters the common box with the shut-off vales for each of the four condos is fed by a 2" line

I was thinking on the same line as bob. Is this okay with the condo association? If you own the condo, where does the line of responsibility begin and end with the new pipes? I could only guess that you pay a set rate or a pro-rated fee for your water. What if individual units need to be metered? They should have tried a few more options to locate the leak or called in a leak detection specialist. I'm sure that you don't want to stir up trouble with your neighbor, but check with the CA and find out if what they did was okay.
And the only way to find out if you are going to have any negative side effects from the work, in relation to your fixture operation, is by using them while your neighbor is using theirs.

My bigger concern would be what would happen if the neighbor has to shut down their water line for a repair, or vice versa...would the other be down as well?

I would say that if they are individually owned condos and they had individually piped cold water systems that they should not have tied into your system.
If each unit has it's own water heater and that line now supplies both WH then that cold line has way too many fixture units and you will probably notice a volume problem.

Caduceus if I live in one of those units I wouldn't let anyone tie onto my line cause if this one goes now other tenant I'm sure isn't gonna share cost
