Morning,

Anyone recognize this rough in. Probably put in back in the 50’s. Trying to avoid taking it out if possible. Want to find a handle that fits...

It's a Moen valve, Legend or Chateau, and all parts are available at your nearest big box store. Cartridge,clip,trim, spout, shower arm and head. In your choice of decorator colors. Plus , no annoying balancer or restricted flow.
 
Moen is the same today , yesterday and tomorrow. You want the skinny cartridge and any modern trim will fit.
