    No hot water

Hello, Yesterday our hot water stopped working. I think I've been able to trace it to the circulator pump but not 100% sure. So no hot water coming out of the holding tank. Pipe is ice cold. All pipes coming into and out of tank are cold. Follow pipe from tank to circulator and boiler and it is...

    Boiler piping order change

Hello, My boiler was leaking from the pressure relief valve and tapping on the expansion tank hinted that I should replace it. Its date was 17 years ago, so I thought this should be an easy fix. When I tried taking it apart, everything was corroded, and the pipes were clogged and broke off. I...

Hello, I am trying to top up the pressure in my boiler but I cannot find the filling loop even after watching a lot of tutorials. I know why the pressure decreased (radiator leak) so now it's solved and I just want to top up the pressure. Could you please help me with the picture attached if...

Gas boiler, no heat to second floor.

I have 3 zones and the 2nd floor gets no heat, I bleed the lines and no water would come out. I filled the lines with a hose, still nothing. I added a Watts feed/pressure regulated and a few shark bites. There is no feeder in this furnace set up.

    Run pipes behind boiler

Hi, I have an old traditional gas boiler (two pipe, fully pumped system, if that matters) sitting on the floor and touching the wall, as from the first pic. The second pic zooms in on a hole the boiler has in the rear, leaving a gap with the wall. I am planning to run two 15mm copper pipes...

    Leaking boiler

I’ve replaced the pressure release valve and the expansion tank on my boiler, but it leaks over night from the pressure release valve. I go to bed the pan is dry, I wake up it’s got about 24 ounces of water in the pan. Any thought on why and what to fix to stop this? again it’s not all day...

    Repacking hot water radiator valve

Hi, Looking for some advice on repacking a valve stem on a hot water radiator. I have tried tightening the gland nut a few times, and there is still a slow seep of water. I purchased graphite cord to repack the valve, and I understand that I would just take the gland nut off and wrap it around...

Adding tee on feed pipe to drain system

Hi, I have a two-pipe fully pumped S plan open vented system. When I drained it last time, I had the impression there is some sludge or dirt around it. I therefore am going to drain it again to install a magnetic filter. I was thinking of taking this chance to add a tee on the feed pipe (the...

    3.6 millibars gas pressure

Hello - we recently had a Worcester Bosch engineer round to fit a new PRV. He checked the working gas pressure and found the pressure to be 3.6 millibars at the gas inlet. It's 20 millibars at the meter. We've had this confirmed by another engineer. We had an extension built 4 years ago and a...

    cell phone boiler surveillance

This might be a frequently asked question but I couldn't find it answered here already. I want to use an IP camera and/or and old cell phone to provide live feed surveillance of my boiler in Montana, when I'm snow-birding down South in Texas. What I want: a fixed position IP (internet...

    hot water radiators always hot

One of the zones in my house is always hot. Even when the circulator pumps are off (The pumps will turn on fine if you crank the thermostat up.) I have a hot water boiler system with baseboard radiators. There are two taco circulator pumps(007-5F, No IFC) on the return side, and two taco...

    Boiler reviews

My question sounds (to me) like a FAQ but I didn't find it. I have a 5 year old Triangle Tube Prestige boiler that has been nothing but trouble. Constant trouble. I'm thinking about replacing it. My plumber said Lochinvar and Rinnai boilers are in stock locally. Others would have to be...

    name this valve(?)

Hello all! Amateur question: What are these? I have a boiler heating system, and these are at the front end of two of my heating water loops. It looks like a brass valve, but there's no handle. As you can see, there is a screwdriver-turned bolt. Is this correct? Or is the nuts-looking...
