Bathroom Sink P-trap Question (exposed pipes)

Yes. It is a corner lav. Here's a picture of what I want to accomplish.

Bathroom Sink P-trap Question (exposed pipes)

Hello, I desperately need to get my sink installed as I am homesteading and winter is coming quickly. The sink is a corner mount sink and I have the faucet purchased. The drain tailpiece appears to be 1-1/4". My wall PVC fitting is 1-1/2" female. I want to install an oil rubbed bronze...

    T&P Relief Valve Question

Nice. This is exactly what I was looking for! The "Extended Shank" version created to pass through the insulation. Thanks so much!

    T&P Relief Valve Question

I did see a Watts with a longer probe. Is that what you meant or are there T&P valves with longer bodies as well? They show a brass model with an 8" probe for a 3/4" copper line.

    T&P Relief Valve Question

Hello, I am putting a sleeve in a stem wall so the T&P relief valve will exit a 5' crawlspace and empty to the outside (6" above grade as per the AHJ). I am trying to do the height calculations so that the Top Mount T&P valve will allow the 3/4" copper to pass through the sleeve. Can the T&P...

Kitchen sink is the fixture closest to the building drain

Hello, I am doing a redesign of a simple DWV where I am now exiting the building foundation from the other side of where I originally planned. Originally, I had the kitchen sink as the fixture that was furthest upstream. Now my kitchen sink is the last fixture (furthest downstream) before...

    Overhead Sewer Question

So could I do this if I had the clearance? I guess the vertical line is a 3" line so this would theoretically still be the 3" PVC section. I guess I am just curious to hear what the best location for cleanouts is... and hopefully the design is sound enough to begin with.

    Overhead Sewer Question

I did a redraw with a single dual direction cleanout so that I have less piping protruding through the finish grade. Also, are there some cleanouts that make more sense from a maintenance standpoint? In other words, cleanouts that are most ideal for setting up a roto-snake?

    Overhead Sewer Question

Thanks plumb_bob. Here's a new rendering with a cleanout on a 4x4x3 exiting the basement and a set of two cleanouts once the drop has been made. Does this make sense?

    Overhead Sewer Question

Thanks. I will put in a combination wye (4x4x3) and repost another drawing later. Thanks for the recommendation on the 45s. I always thought that 22.5s were preferable to 45s. I am learning a lot here.

    Overhead Sewer Question

Hello, I'm trying to render an overhead sewer design. I'll need to transition from 3" to 4" once I leave the basement wall through the sleeve. Do most folks make the transition after leaving the building wall or before? Also, can one of the pro's here make a suggestion as to what...

    Sewer + Water Lateral Question

Giving this thread a bump. Also, I spoke with the city engineer and he confirmed I will use 4" for the lateral until I reach the saddle at the street. Can anyone also confirm what kind of lateral fittings I can use on the horizontal? Is it just 22.5 degree turns for a sewer lateral? Thanks...

    Sewer + Water Lateral Question

Hello, I am putting together a site plan for my building permit and I just received the as-builts from the town that show the water and sewer layout. The sewer hookup is on a far corner of my lot which isn't ideal for how I am exiting my house and adjacent shop(overhead sewer) so I would be...

    Lowboy Tank Heater Question

Hello, Does anyone know if one of these 20-30 gallon lowboy tank heaters can reasonably fit under a kitchen counter? I would be curious to know if a pro has ever installed one in this location. I would assume side inlet/outlet and side T&Z valve would be required. Also, do these units need...

Infill Material for Shower Box-Out in Slab Question

Thanks Mr_David. I will put a bed of gravel in there but make sure the top level substrate is a mortar bed so that the drain flange and assembly is supported and tied to the surrounding slab.

Infill Material for Shower Box-Out in Slab Question

Hello, I am going to have a shower drain in a slab on grade floor and I plan to box out the 2" drain pipe. I have seen different recommendations for how to handle the void around the drain assembly (I will probably use a Schluter Kerdi drain). Some folks use a dry mortar, some folks use sand...

Slab On Grade DWV Design Questions

Thanks Frodo. I appreciate it. I will use a 90 degree 1/4 Long Sweep for the fitting at #6. I will draw it in as well as the two way clean out you indicated. What is the difference between using two wyes as directional cleanouts vs. using the single multi-directional cleanout Tee that I see?

Slab On Grade DWV Design Questions

Ok. I think I got it now... I think one of the strengths of your idea is that it reduces the amount of sewer main under the slab by bringing the shower and the toilet together. I added a dimension of the depth that will be required to bring my main to the street from the rear of my building...

Slab On Grade DWV Design Questions

Thanks Frodo. I'm not that great at reading DWV Isometrics... Can you annotate this bottom view of my model with the most intuitive way you would route just the drain pipes under the slab? What does the 3" tee with 2" side outlet look like? I have a good feel for the venting part (and the...
