    Undersink filter flow restrictor

Ok, that sounds like it will work. I was thinking along the lines of something more specific in the sense that, say, chloramine removal requires a flow rate of 1 l/min for this particular filter. I can certainly time it. Not that chloramines worry me here. Lead does tho.

    Undersink filter flow restrictor

Sorry if this isn't quite plumbing. I have a two 10" cartridge undersink water filter. Kenmore. Odor, sediment, lead reduction etc. A few years ago I replaced the faucet, and I assume the flow restrictor with it? Comes out fast now. But the faucet is getting corroded and needs replacing. I was...

    Strapping question--stainless on copper

Hi, My contractor used stainless steel strapping for hanging some copper. Is this ok? I always thought it should be copper or plastic? Thanks

    Hot water recirculation questions

So do I need a bridge or some type of heat activated valve? Or both?

Need Assistance - Dangerous Fumes - Co2 & Gas Leak

FYI--it's not CO2, which is carbon dioxide--the climate gas. Not poisonous but can suffocate you in a closed space. It's Carbon Monoxide: CO, which is a deadly poison even at low concentration. A headache and nausea are symptoms. That's what improper venting can release. The other comment...

    Hot water recirculation questions

Hi all, I've read through a couple threads here about HW recirculation. I have some questions about installing a system. The house is all copper, though some is being replaced. There's 3/4" copper CW & HW in the crawl space along the length of the house ending at a 3 bathroom stack, all of...

    Refrigerator water supply line

Sorry Jeff, didn't see you'd replied already. I edited my previous reply about the valve. Yeah, it was the saddle type. I can sweat and have some experience but was lazy on that. Hmmm, still have the 1/4" copper. I've never used Sharkbite mostly due to price. The early ones couldn't be reused...

    Refrigerator water supply line

Yeah--I had copper before, 1/4"but really slow--tho that might be the needle type valve I used. I was thinking of sleeving it and like the PEX idea. I don't want to run 1/2" copper just for the refrig and for planned future changes. Maybe I'll go 3/8" soft copper. [2nd edit!] Finding that 3 way...

    Refrigerator water supply line

Good advice but this isn't in the wall, completely exposed in my shop. And temporary in the sense that maybe in a few years things change here! Riley

    Refrigerator water supply line

Hi all, I have a 1/2" copper stub with a compression supply valve to a utility sink in my shop/brewery. The old fridge had 1/4" copper from there to it-not in the wall-about a 30' run and was dirt slow but didn't get much use. I have a new fridge. On the other side of the garage. If I run a...

    Valve type

Never ran across that name while googling and searching hardware sites. Thanks! And thanks for googling for me! ;) Riley

    Valve type

Hi all, I'm not a pro, but usually do ok and am helping my neighbor, who has this "flow thru" type valve for a utility sink. The hose thread goes to a clothes washer, and the flow-thru part to the utility sink valve. I've never seen on of these. He got two replacement valves, the first didn't...

    Copper pipe, brass valve, corrosion

Thank all. I'll install a new valve. Don't use Home Depot valves? Frodo, bottled water gets expensive @ 15 Gals/brew. I put together a portable RO filter. ;) Dilute with filtered tap to target for the style and adjust.

    Copper pipe, brass valve, corrosion

Thanks for all the info. The pH has been around 7.5 tho I haven't tested for some time. I'm a homebrewer, but have been brewing at another location the last couple years. That's going to change soon, hopefully. Putting in a utility sink. I'm in Los Angeles which gets water from all over. I...

    Copper pipe, brass valve, corrosion

Hi all, Some years ago I installed a brass valve on a hot water pipe just after the heater. It's developed a lot of corrosion - see pic. Almost certain I was told by the vendor that brass to copper was ok. Anyway, I'll replace the valve. Should I install a dielectric union to prevent this...

    PBP water lines

I agree with Mightygoat. I've never seen problems, at least (years ago) with swimming pool PVC pipe, with vermin. Did you, havasu, have problems that way with the PBP? Ask your neighbors. If there's really a problem consider putting the PEX in an insulated sleeve. Or put it in cheap ABS pipe...
