Clicking noise from pipe when turning on/off faucets

Seems to be only the cold water. Is this an issue that needs to be addressed?

Clicking noise from pipe when turning on/off faucets

When a kitchen or bathroom faucet is turned on there is a clicking (that is the best way to describe it) noise coming from a pipe on the other side of our home. It also happens when the water is turned off. When a faucet is turned on or off slowly it is does not occur as frequently. We had...

    Plumber's obligations after pipe installation

Couldn't it have had another bracket that extends from the bracket attached to the dishwasher? It is my understanding that running the dishwasher without it being mounted can cause damage. We have done this. Should I have it looked at? I think I have had enough of this.

    Plumber's obligations after pipe installation

Evidently it is not as easy as everyone is stating. Attached is a picture of my washer with the bracket. So this is what I have learned. The bracket attached to the dishwasher is not able to be flush against the wood. 1> Do I need to drill a new hole? 2> I need a wooden shim. 3> What size...

    Plumber's obligations after pipe installation

We recently had a plumber replace all of the pipes in our home. The dishwasher was removed for the installation. After the job was completed it was not remounted. It now tilts forward whenever a rack is pulled out. Would a plumber usually remount a dishwasher that had been removed for a water...

    Preventing pipe leaks

We just had all the water pipes replaced and rerouted from the house slab to the attic. Between the actual pipe work and drywall repair it has been expensive. Are there an precautions we can take to prevent pipe leaks in the future? It is my understanding that the vast majority of pipe...

Very helpful. That sheet has the manufacturer name. I contacted the company. The product is not toxic or carcinogenic.

New copper pipes installed: Cloudy water with metal smell

My plumber said the flux used is Everflux. Does anyone know about it? I really don't care about awful smell or taste. I won't drink it anyway. Just concerned about using it for the other stuff.

New copper pipes installed: Cloudy water with metal smell

I don't have a big issue with the smell or taste since I do not drink it. Can anyone tell me whether this stuff is unsafe? Can I cook with it? Can I shower with it? Can I wash my face with it? I would ask my plumber but I am sure I would not receive an honest answer if it is unsafe?

New copper pipes installed: Cloudy water with metal smell

We just had new copper pipes installed in our home. The plumber mentioned the water would initially have a different smell. What exactly is it? Is it safe to use with cooking?

Hiring a plumber that does not have workers' comp

Now I reading that in order for a homeowner to be liable for injuries to a contractor the homeowner has to be negligent. Can anyone clear this up?

Hiring a plumber that does not have workers' comp

Final question for this thread so I can be clear with future contractor hiring. As mentioned in this thread, in California a business owner is exempt from having workers' comp insurance. Does this mean if a business owner works at our home and is injured we are not liable for his injuries or...

    Fiberglass insulation cleanup

Thank you. Funny. I just read that advice about the wipe down. I will wipe down the counter myself. I had to buy the filter myself for $30.00. I am wondering if there really is any benefit compared to the Fine Particle filter which is one step down. If not I will return it. One...

    Fiberglass insulation cleanup

While my plumber's assistant was removing drywall he also removed the fiberglass insulation. Unfortunately he decided to put it on the counter in our kitchen. It is my understanding that a HEPA vacuum should be used to clean up fiberglass insulation. My plumber does not use this. He does...

Hiring a plumber that does not have workers' comp

I appreciate the response. It is my understanding that a business owner can be covered by workers' comp. You should be able to get it. http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/faqs.html I would like to know if I am not understanding something. I need an attorney just to hire a contractor.

Hiring a plumber that does not have workers' comp

Is a lien release to prevent a company from putting a lien on a home in case of liability? It is unfair for a homeowner to interpret an insurance policy anyway. I read the proof of workers' comp and I missed the box that says "Any Proprietor/Partner/Executive/Officer/Member excluded." Damn...

Hiring a plumber that does not have workers' comp

Same in California. It does not make sense to me. The plot thickens. I sent an e-mail to the plumber yesterday, He replies yes. He shows up with the proof of insurance. I neglected to ask the owner if he himself is covered by workers' comp. Two hours into the job I do ask if he is...
