    What did you do today?

"Easter is now “Transgender Day of Visibility”. Cool stuff, huh?" Not totally true . That"Day" is actually the 31st so it won't always be the same day as Easter . I looked it up. Still BS any way you look at it. 1.6 % of the population is trans, and they get a special day ?

Brass drain on water heater leaking around threads

I've had tiny leaks seal on their own after a week or so. The minerals in the water find the path of least resistance and eventually seal the leak.

    Whole House Filter

Shut off the water at the incoming valve , then slightly open a fitting on the downstream side for a second or two to relieve the pressure . Water will spray out, of course , so be prepared . Opening faucets may also help.

Hey Twowax, I have all stainless Flex braid supply lines in my home. All are original from when the home was built in 2012. I know it's hard to say, but what kind of a useful life can I expect from them? In other words, when do You change your braided lines ?

Question about a water-powered back up sump pump

I have a Basepump unit. It discharges thru the wall and dumps on the grass. You would think the Dual check valve fitting would be ok, can't think of a reason why it wouldn't. I'll be damned if I am going to drop $400.00 plus on one .

Question about a water-powered back up sump pump

Wouldn't it suck air from the outside if there was negative pressure in the water supply ?

Question about a water-powered back up sump pump

I have a water powered back up sump pump. It does have its own discharge that goes thru the wall and would dump the water on the grass. Would a RPZ still be needed since backflow would be impossible ?

    Hydrojetting

Wanted to give a belated reply to my Sump Pump drain issue. Had a plumber out who ran a camera down, and the drain line was almost completely blocked with sediment that had turned into a cement hard consistency. I had the line hydrojetted and it worked great removing all the crap back to bare PVC.

digital gas valve vs non-digital gas valve

I have an American water heater with a honeywell gas valve. About a year after we moved into our new house, the valve/control tripped. I thought it was bad and called honeywell and they sent me out a new one. I talked to a plumber and he said try resetting it, and that worked. Still have the...

    Hydrojetting

I had a plumber come out to look over my partially clogged sump discharge line. He said that since it is a PVC line that it probably is not roots but a sediment build up. I have an appointment to have it hydrojetted by a large highly regarded company, not some fly by night handyman. . When I...

Thanks for that option Twowax ! Is the drain bladder flexible enough to insert it at that elbow?

    Sump pump issue

From what i can see, it just looks like the pipe goes into the reducer and terminates a short distance in. Home is 12 years old, no previous issues with this . I suspect that there may be tree roots in the pipe causing a partial blockage. Could this cause a kind back pressure ?

    Sump pump issue

I have water gushing out of the sump pump discharge overflow pipe . That is the pvc that is curved downward in the photo. The pvc runs about 30 feet and discharges into a grated storm water drain. I have stuck a hose into that elbow and ran water, and I can see it exiting the sump pump pvc into...

The "strainer" has threaded access that can be undone to access a strainer screen, which can be removed to clean accumulated debris.
