    Well pump controller

A good breaker is really all you need. By the time an overload trips it is too late to save the motor anyway. The only thing a breaker or overload does is to protect the electric grid from your burned motor, not to protect the motor. To protect a pump/motor something needs to shut it off if...

    Well pump controller

In the old days control boxes had overloads. These days the overload is built into the motor, If your motor is that old you need to add an overload. You can add one as shown in the diagram. A 1HP is 8 amps max so you need about a 15 amp overload of some kind. Doesn't have to be Klixon...

    Galvanic rust ?

Very common to see that rust from dissimilar metals screwed together at the pump. Yes it is electrolysis. Tape over the fittings with electric tape and they will look brand new 30 years from now. If not, it can eat a hole in the fitting in as little as 6 months.

    Boost Pump Issue

Then you only need a pump that can do 25 GPM at 80 PSI. Probably like a CR5-7 or something. There web site wants to pick a pump for me instead of letting me see the curves. Wants to pick a pump with an "integrated variable speed". Ugg! If you can get a curve on a constant speed pump I would...

    Boost Pump Issue

Yes you can. But with a 70/90 pressure switch setting, a 44 gallon size tank is probably as small as you can go. However, all 40 gallons do not have to be in one spot. You could use as small as a 4.5 gallon size tank close to the CSV and pressure switch, then an additional 40 gallon size tank...

    Boost Pump Issue

Thanks guys. Got pump curves piled up on my desk this morning and trying to catch up. :)

    Boost Pump Issue

I can help you out with that. The Cycle Stop Valve was designed to replace variable speed pumps or VFD's and uses a regular pressure tank/pressure switch to turn the pump on and off. Once the pump comes on the completely mechanical Cycle Stop Valve can be adjusted to hold from15 to 150 PSI...

    Question which valve?

I am sorry I have looked at this several times and still don't understand. If the green valve comes from the well it should never be closed. It shouldn't even be there for the possibility of it getting closed. Label any pipes that you know and that may help.

    Question which valve?

I see why you are confused. Makes my head hurt. Lol! Is the pipe coming through the wall in the back left side coming from the well? Is the tank at the top of the photos even connected?

    Question water heater and well

"Non-profit electric company" Lol! My rates almost doubled when all those extra options were offered. Looks like we are just paying a bunch of middle men companies to handle the billing for the real electric company. People don't realize, "I am with the government and am here to help you", is...

    Question water heater and well

Yes. Just turn off the pump and open a faucet. When water stops coming out it is safe to work on the plumbing.

    Residential Variable Speed Booster Pump

Yeah, please let us know how it works. Most VFD type pump systems are made to fail soon after the warranty expires. That is the main design criteria for variable speed pumps. I have replaced thousands of VFD pump systems in the last 30 years. A mechanical Cycle Stop Valve will do a better...

    Sizing well components

You can find a curve for the 25GS20 here. https://www.pumpproducts.com/media/amasty/amfile/attach/5GS,%207GS,%2010GS,%2013GS,%2018GS%20and%2025GS%205-25%20GPM,%20Submersible%20Pumps%20Technical%20Brochure.pdf 340' or 147 PSI is max pressure that pump can build at the bottom of the hole. The...

    Sizing well components

You gave me the pump model number and I just didn't see it. Sorry. Retired, Weekend. Skimming when I have time. 25GS20 is perfect with the diagram you posted. The CSV1A with a !0 gallon tank is really all you need. You can get the PK1A kit with a 10 gallon tank and a 50/70 switch. The...

Any idea what size pump you have?

separating house water from irrigation system

You don't want to inject things upstream of a pump. I usually see injection into or past a Chemcheck that keeps the injected stuff from being able to back into the pump.

separating house water from irrigation system

Most states require a Double Check back flow preventer on the inlet to the irrigation line. This will cause a loss of about 10 PSI to the irrigation system, but will keep anything from back flowing from the irrigation to the house. Opening any tap at the house or turning on any irrigation zone...

Does this pump/ switch sound okay on shallow well?

Sorry, but the tank is bad. Just lucky the pump is still working as EVERTHING in a pump system is damaged and destroyed from cycling on and off. You need a Cycle Stop Valve. Since you are replacing the tank anyway a PK1A kit would be best.

Underground Water Line Size From Welll to House & Barn

All water lines, especially dead ended lines need to be flushed out occasionally. But I don't worry about stuff growing in underground water lines as much as lines above ground. Underground water lines are cool and out of the sunlight, which helps keep things from growing in the water.

Underground Water Line Size From Welll to House & Barn

Thank MicEd. As was said, staying with 1.5" pipe the whole way sounds best. 1" is a little small for that distance, and if 1.5" is not much different price to 1.25", I would go with the larger pipe. With 1.5" there is basically no friction loss. However, friction loss is determined by the...
