    doesnt look like it meets code to me either. Washer is 2" laundry sink 1 1/2. the reason is because the 1 1/2 drain needs the sink to take the excess water until the drain can catch up to the volume of water.

    Is your circulating pump working? Hitting 270 is dangerous. Do you have heat? The knocking sound could be air in the lines or if its coming from the boiler... boiling water with no where to go. does it work if you manually open the zone valves?

    That heater uses stranded wire and if one strand touched ground it could blow up the elements base. Dont ask me how but stuff happens. I wouldnt change the heater i would just add a new element. water pressure has nothing to do with the electrical aspect.
