    Leaking p trap

All I have a p-trap that's leaking under my kitchen sink. It's the schedule 40 stuff, so I can't just unscrew some nuts and replace everything easily. The yellow circle is where the leak is. The red circle is where I assume I would need to cut the pvc in order to replace the p trap. The...

    intermittent toilet running

my overflow tube has a little round circle on top that you slide the hose into. I didn’t use the clip provided with the valve. Perhaps I will try using the clip. Can you explain the siphon effect? How does it siphon water out of the tank if it’s in the overflow tube and there is no water in...

    intermittent toilet running

Hi all I just replaced the fill valve in my toilet with a Fluidmaster 400a. Everything seemed fine at first. The tank would fill to about a half inch below the overflow tube and then stop. However, after a period of a few hours, I came back into the bathroom only to find the toilet running...

What kind of trap is this?

Thanks for the help. I wanted to replace these because the sinks are slow draining. I've tried drano and all that. Ended up ripping this out today and replacing with new pipes. There was so much gunk in there it wasn't funny. The sink drains fine now. I now see why they gerry rigged...

When I google it, this doesn't look like either an S trap or a P trap. Help?

New kitchen sink drain doesn't line up. Help a novice!

I'm also a novice, but I think you will definitely need to cut the tailpiece down. If you don't have the tools to cut metal, just go buy a pvc tailpiece for a few bucks and cut it with a hacksaw. As for the drain not lining up, I'd go buy pvc s trap at lowes and piece if together. It may...

    Leaky main water shut off

Howdy The main water shut off coming into my basement has began to leak. My problem is that the shut off value is attached to the pipe as soon as it comes out of the block wall. Therefore, this leaves me no room to cut the valve off and attach a new one. Thoughts? Ideas? Also, what is the...

    Water pressure regulator

Thanks. I'll try to clean it up with a wire brush in the next couple days. Why would a curb stop valve be in the house though? I thought those were on the street near the meter?

    Water pressure regulator

Hello all, Can someone tell me what the contraption is on this water pipe as soon as it comes in the house, before the main water shut off valve? Is it a really really old pressure regulator?? I know the pictures suck, but it's the best I could do. After we had a bad thunderstorm, my water...

Gas tank water heater vs electric tankless water heater

Hello all, I have an 11 year old gas water heater (reliance 606) i believe. I recently had to replace the thermocouple. I'm now thinking about replacing the entire heater just because of it's age. I don't want to come home to a flooded basement. I was thinking about tankless heaters...

Replace water shutoff valve on unknown pipe

Yes, my plan is to replace it with a quarter turn valve, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen since I cant get it off the nipple. Can't get the nipple to unscrew from the copper pipe that it's connected to either. Looks like I'm going to have to call a plumber.

Replace water shutoff valve on unknown pipe

That's what I've been trying to do, but I can't get it to break free. The bathroom was built about 20 years ago so I'm guessing it's just stuck. The brass nipple is threaded into a copper pipe but as you can see, the copper pipe barely peaks out of the floor, so I can't cut the copper pipe...

Replace water shutoff valve on unknown pipe

Hello all, I'm a new homeowner, and first time DIY plumber. The water supply shutoff valve going to the toilet is leaking around the part that you turn in order to shut the water on or off. I want to replace it . The problem is that I can't get the shutoff valve to unscrew from the pipe...
