    Bored Well dirty water.

Hi speedbump, Are you having a good Memorial Day? "The way dug wells are constructed alone makes them somewhat unsafe." This is a bored well, not a dug well. Does it matter in the context of your statement? "We generally plug wells with neat cement." May you please tell me how deep and...

    Bored Well dirty water.

Hello, I've finished digging the dirt from around my well to a depth of 5'. I intend to pack the earth before pouring concrete into hole. I was wondering if someone could recommend a gasketing material to install inbetween the two sections of exposed casing? I have noticed that the top...

No sir I do not have any streams around my property. What don't you like about my pouring a concrete casing around my existing casing?

    Bored Well dirty water.

Hello Speedbump, I looked at the link that you posted and although it looks good for some soils, it probably would not work for my rocky soil conditions here in central NC. Thank you, JB

    Bored Well dirty water.

Greetings Friends, I hope you all are having a good Memorial Day weekend. I have a 55 year, old 30' deep, 24" diameter, bored well. Lately my water has been a little dirty since I replaced the waterline going to it. The hole where the waterline penetrates the casing is watertight with...

New Well Filters Clogged After Heavy Rains

Hello Friends, I have a 25' shallow dug well. My 3 - new filters have already clogged after a week of heavy rains. The filters are - 5micron, absolute 1micron, absolute 1micron carbon (matrikx+1). This problem has never happened before. This fact leads me with two questions that I was...

    No Pressure

Hey Speedbump, I am talking about pressure at the pressure switch where there is a pressure gauge. Thank you for the advice. I am going to inspect the piping for any problems just to be sure. Thanks again, JB

    No Pressure

Hey Speedbump, It is actually a shallow well pump in my crawlspace STA-RITE MODEL SNC-L. Everything from the foot valve to the pump is new. The pump is about 12 years old. The pressure tank and switch are about 12 years old. It was running fine until I replaced the broken underground line by...

    No Pressure

I got the pressure built up to 30 PSI by lowering the waterline. The pump does not shut off though. The tank is a 30 - 50. Do you know what pressure the tank should be cutting off at? Thank you, JB

    No Pressure

Hi phishfood, I do not know what those pressures were. The tank is a 30-50. The black plastic pipe is not kinked. There are no air pockets anywhere in the line. The pump is primed. There are no leaks. I just cannot get anything greater than about 24PSI of pressure. The pumps just keeps...

    No Pressure

Hello, The well line beneath my garage started leaking so I bypassed it by running new 1" black plastic pipe inside the garage. This required going up the wall across the garage and then down the wall to the crawl space. Now I am only getting about 26 PSI of pressure on my line. The...

    Leak at threads

I decided to put in a new water heater because the threads in the female nipples were extremely deteriorated probably due to two dissimilar metals coming into contact with each other, copper and iron.

    Leak at threads

Good news everyone, I found out why the pilot would not light. It actually was lighting but I could not see it through the port window. That problem is now solved. Thanks for the great help with my problem. I would have not been able to solve these problems without this forum.

New Gas Water Heater Won't Light

Greetings fellow plumbers and do it yourselfers. Can someone please suggest a remedy to a new gas water heater that refuses to light? I bled the air out of the gas union and I bled the gas valve by holding down the red button for quite a while but the new STATE Natural gas 40 - gallon water...

    Leak at threads

Thanks for the replies everyone. I went out and purchased a new STATE 6 - year warranty water heater. It connected back together pretty simply but now I am having trouble lighting the pilot. I tried bleeding the system at the gas union but it still did not light. Is there a way to bleed...

    Leak at threads

Thanks for the help Havasu, There are no dielectrics installed on the hot and cold line and now it appears that the hot water side threads are leaking too. Does this problem seem to have been caused by not having dielectrics installed, and if so, do you believe rectorseal will seal the holes...

    Leak at threads

Hi Havasu & Chris, There are no dielectric unions installed on this water heater. It is pex throughout the home and 18" of copper pipe at the water heater. The heater was installed in 2004 so I am not sure if dielectric unions were required by code then. I suspect the threads are damaged...
