    setting PRV and Expansion tank

Sorry to butt in but two items discussed bothers me. #1 The sole purpose of the expansion tank is to give wat to thermal expansion thus saving the water heater from catastrophic failure (exploding) under pressure. The expansion tank should have no effect on water hammer. The factory sets the...

Best brand for residential water heater (tank)

I agree 100%. The one extremely important mark you failed to make is that yearly maintenance can and will decide the life of the water heater. Flushing and anode rod checking/ replacement (how bad the water is) can and will dictate overall life of the heater. You can easily get 20 plus years out...

Need to replace dishwasher, any suggestions?

Most brands are made from the same manufacturer. I prefer kitchenAid looks and db. You pretty much get what you pay for as far as quality goes. Good luck.

    Tankless issues

One more note of importance is that the original installer should have never left you home without correcting this MAJOR problem.

    Tankless issues

I have found Navien to be the most reliable tankless heater. It not only features a integrated recirculating pump model but also in many cases be installed with the remaining gas supply. A few items I would check first would ofcourse be if the dip switches are set correctly, if the flow rate...

    Coiled tubing for water line?

Pex tubing would be your best bet. You can purchase rules, fitting and crimping tool from home depot. When you are finished with tool just return to home depot. They will take the return as long as you tell them the tool wasn't that you thought it was.

    Island Sink Venting

Good call phishfood. UPS and IPC codes allow a 3" ventless waste. UPC however still requires 1/4" fall

    Island Sink Venting

You can run the foot vent as high as needed so long as it is NOT the drain side of the Boston loop. This is the entire purpose of the loop venting system.

Gas line - Max BTU on 60' 3/4" pipe

I have plumbed a hand full of jobs with a 5 lbs NG system. Would be much easier to add appliances with that system opposed to a half pound system.

Gas line - Max BTU on 60' 3/4" pipe

When installing a gas system we like to first determine the total btu count then measure the distance (total developed length)between the meter and the farthest fixture. This is the deciding factor in what size the service needs to be and also how far we need to extend that size pipe before...

Gas line - Max BTU on 60' 3/4" pipe

Total developed length + btu will always dictate what minimum size your service can be AND how far you can run a line without having to upsize due to load. You have to calculate entire system in order to add fixture OR add length. Your regulator at the service meter

Gas line - Max BTU on 60' 3/4" pipe

Hello Auradeus. Total developed length from your meter/ regulator to the farthest fixture should be established first. Second part to the puzzle would be total btu's used combining every fixture on system. NG (natural gas) in most cases is .5 lbs pressure and propane (LP/liquid petroleum) is 2.0...

    Best Drain Cleaner

they sell blow bags at home improvement stores that do the same thing but with water I DO use them when clearing a urinal trap clogg ( when Im too lazy to pull the urinal off the wall and a urinal snake wont work

    Pex in cold weather.

when I say add recirc pump to cold side a mean you should ren system like you would for a hot water recirc system with a check valve on the main to keep the recirculating lines contained to the loop only

    Pex in cold weather.

wirsbo will expand better but the fitting are the weak point. If you use any pex in a attic you should install it like you would roll copper under slab. run your pex (wirsbo) ends down into a warmed wall and manifold them so no fittings would be prone to freezing. another option would be to...
