Shallow Well pump replacement. Please help.

Ohh, don't be scared of Amazon. It 's run by angels :) Lets try this another way. If what they have now is a "Mercedes" what will be equivalent in "Ford" line? They are not wealthy, so trying to find something cheaper than $700+ . I just don't want to get something under powered.

Valveman... Not sure how you can answer the question if you didn't see what I want to replace it with... Links ARE scanned by this site. It is a standard Amazon link. Not sure what is the issue, seems you have been here for 13 years..... If the one I found would not do it, can somebody...

Hi Folks. Helping out elder couple. Friends. They have ~20-25 year old Shallow well pump in their crawlspace. The pump is Grundfos JP-7 3/4 HP There seem to be minor leak going on. Corrosion is everywhere. It could be that connection is leaky and drips into the housing. Connection is...

Utility sink smell... Motor and trap question Please help.

After many hours spent on the smell issue... answer was simple and obvious. It was evil clothes washer by Frigidaire that produced the foul odor. As I read they are known for that issue and there even was a class action lawsuit concerning smell. I would not go that far, but I found an article...

Utility sink smell... Motor and trap question Please help.

Frodo, possibly you are right, but there are two issues. 1) It is hard to re solder that joint, as the whole setup is inside the build in closet 2) I believe the smell is of gasses and it caused by air vacuum, not the actual "crap" that might as you mentioned entered the soldered extension...

Utility sink smell... Motor and trap question Please help.

Oh well, I replaced lines with pex, replaced check valve. See attached. Hoping for the best... My wife started doing laundry, but unfortunately odor came back. It drives me a bit crazy as It clearly states that this pump does not need P trap in the manual. I tried calling Hartell, but no...

Utility sink smell... Motor and trap question Please help.

If the brass piece is a check valve, I can not unscrew the top cap to see the flap. Too tight (I am not a weak guy, but I am afraid I will break the pipe if I try harder) There was one instance couple of years ago, where water tried to back up, and I believe that this utility pump worked trying...

Utility sink smell... Motor and trap question Please help.

THANK YOU everyone! I just wish there would be more plumbers with your knowledge in my area. What it looks like the brass bulb with switch on top is a shutoff and not check valve, there is no check valve in line. I think the best would be to leave pump where it is and change the whole line...

Utility sink smell... Motor and trap question Please help.

Thank you for the reply! This is only happening when doing laundry. I believe I have a "union" attached to the line but not the check valve. Pictures attached. Do you think installing one would solve odor discharge or I need something else as additional trap?

Utility sink smell... Motor and trap question Please help.

Additionally, looking at my setup of LT1 motor, I do not see "check valve" installed inline. Not sure, maybe I have older unit and check valve is within the casing? Hartell website said clearly that no traps, inlet piping / vents are needed for this LT1 unit. I am just guessing here, if to...

Utility sink smell... Motor and trap question Please help.

Hi everyone. I have a utility sink in the bathroom that we use for laundry drain. Sink is connected to the pump, grey water gets pumped to the main line. There is no floor drain or such. It produces sewer smell once it starts pumping grey water. As I understand it is because previous...

Septic / drain leachfield system question

Well, I decided to take step #1 and try to divert water away from septic tank by doing a French drain. I think I will go with the pre-fabricated Infiltrator or NDS drain pipe(the one with poly rock and mesh sock) the only question is weather I should use a plastic liner. It seems like a good...

Septic / drain leachfield system question

Just had a visit from excavating contractor. He gave me a price to do a french drain, but other than that very little help. What got me concerned is that he did not know about pre-manufactured french drain pipe similar to the one made by infiltrator, being in business for over 25 years, my guess...

Septic / drain leachfield system question

John, Thank you for the input! I am having excavating contractor to look at things later today. I do not believe field is failing, because even the field was built 40 years ago, it was only used about 2-3 month a year by a very cautious couple who did not pour oil or had a washing machine, so...

Septic / drain leachfield system question

Thank you for the advice. I thought about putting a backwater valve where the tank meets the drainfield. Got to do more research on that. Overall it will not solve the problem, just as an emergency measure ok. P.S. If the problem gets worse, I might end up of living in that "little tree house"...

Septic / drain leachfield system question

Hi Everyone. I'm in need of an unbiased advice about my septic system. When heavy rain or fast thaw hit, water backs up from our septic tank into our pipes, so that it flows back, even when we don't use any water inside the house. The house is located in front of a mountain with tank...

Mystery plumbing /Excess water to septic, please help

IFIXH20, John, Danny6115 Thank you! I was not sure when I wrote this post that anybody would answer. I am very grateful. I feel that John and Danny6115 are very close to reality. The tank was built in 1970. As I understood from some readings, back in the days they did not seal connections to...
