What is this? (Might need input from an old timer on this)

... your getting more comments about photos than answers. The tank is a well component- it probably minimizes water hammer and helps even out the pressure in the system throughout the home.

    Hole in basement floor

I've never seen this, what state are you in? My first thought, before you opened the sheet metal cover, was this was your sump pump crock. But yes, it could also be as Matt30 says, basically a one way valve to prevent the city sewer (if ever overloaded) from "back washing" into your basement...

Please Help an Old Army Guy-Vent Questions

Frodo has it, hopefully, after measuring, the answer is yes, that vent can also be the sink drain. The vent will have to be uncapped and run through the roof of the home to the outside. The roof penetration should be minimum of 3 inch diameter to help prevent snow from clogging it and or...

    high volume for garden

Thanks for the responses, the garden edge is only 25 feet away from the home, but the farthest edge , being a large 80 by 40 plot, is close to 100 feet away. My ultimate goal is to run an underground line to a yard hydrant actually in the garden. Update: I have decided to install a 3/4 ball...

Sewer smell, smoke test yielded nothing, what now?

I had one of these, actually a couple. One time the sewer smell only happened when the wash rack wash in use (commercial building- bus garage), the first test failed. I pressed the service into repeating...roof vents should be closed or its not going to work. Second time more smoke was used...

(outdoor hose bib) This is residential, so best I can really do is 3/4 pipe...OK fine, no prob> BUT, all I can find is 1/2 inch frost proof hose bibs....and to make it worse....looking in the the end of the bib, the actual hole for the valve is...

    No mid temp at faucet

The manufacturer will send me new parts at no cost to me...I dont know what these parts are and do not have an explaination....but...I have trained my family to always use full flow, and it works OK. If you dont put the water on FULL, you have no temp control, just too cold or too hot. So, we...

    No mid temp at faucet

OK thanks.......I have since noted, at full open (flow) it performs reasonably. but if you get a nice working temp at full flow, and attempt to throttle down the flow...you're going to get scalded. I'll try that number John Thanks

    No mid temp at faucet

Installed a new price pfister perisa kitchen faucet. -About $170.00 item or so, not the cheapest available. Now we have either full hot or full cold. Its a single handle model. If the handle is straight in the middle, and we move it 1/8 to the right, thats 55 degree water.....if we move 1/8...
