Thanks. Do you think this means I will need to get a new heater? i will have to get a plumber to come out to fix the leak, but can the water heater operate normally/safely if this has occurred?

i am not sure, we just purchased the home. It was built in 1999. The leak is coming from the pipe from the bottom, which i guess is the drain. Please see pictures for model number and where the leak is coming from. Thank you so much for your help.

It looks like the bottom of my water heater is warped. Is this dangerous? The model is Weil McLain Gold Plus 40. It also has a slight leak in the back, hence the water. Thanks!
