    Vent Stack Leaking in Attic

I did put a catch pan just to be safe. But I can't where it's leaking from the bottom joint to the vertical pipe to the other bathroom. But all is good for now. Speaking of the Horizontal Slope. I don't have good access to see by eye, and my long level is too long, and my small level may be...

    Vent Stack Leaking in Attic

This was happening when the temps were in the 80s. I've been in the house for 15 years and this has never happened. I do not have any insulation on the horizontal pipe that connects to the tee Branch and the vent stack to the other bathroom. So would debris in the vertical stack or the Tee...

    Vent Stack Leaking in Attic

I have what I feel is an odd problem, and I've asked a few people that are not sure the answer. About a year and a half ago, my bathroom ceiling had a huge water spot on it. Went into attack and the Vent Stack coming down from roof was wet. I had someone replace the boot on the stack on my...

    Whirlpool needs replaced

I have my eye on one of the Rheems at HD as well. I read one forum where a plumber said HD started selling Rheem and upset what it would do for their name. He was cautioning folks from buying a Rheem from HD, stating they were possibly another brand (forget name) in a Rheem box (sort of like...

    Whirlpool needs replaced

Thanks. They are just so convenient. I called my local plumbing store and they only keep a couple in stock. 3-4 weeks to get it.

    Whirlpool needs replaced

Any one know if AO Smith at Lowes is just a rebranded Whirlpool? Also, will I really see a big difference moving from A 50 gallon with 58 FHR was to 50 with 80 FHR?

    Whirlpool needs replaced

My whirlpool Water Heater is 13 years old. It's no longer heating well even with new elements. It also has a slow leak around the drain valve I believe as the insulation is very wet. It's a 50g tank with an FHR of 58. I'm looking at an AO Smith 50 with 81g FHR. Will I really see the...

Hex nut on shower drain wil not stay tight

The first picture is just one I found on the internet. I did specify that on the first post. The second picture is of my drain. I thought that was OSB. That's particle board? If so, my entire subfloor is particle board

Hex nut on shower drain wil not stay tight

Looking at my drain from the basement, it appears the shower bottom is not resting on the subfloor. Its like the perimeter is the only thing resting on floor. A friend told me that when there is a gap, you should install self leveling mortar under shower to prevent flexing. I have a 2.5" gap...

Hex nut on shower drain wil not stay tight

Thank you for all this info. I'm nervous to call a plumber in my area as I'm not so sure many know what they are doing. In fact, I had a licensed plumber to install a Watts Regulator. Once at my house, he told me I didn't purchase the correct regulator with the correct endings. After he told me...

Hex nut on shower drain wil not stay tight

Looks like I will need to brace it somehow

Hex nut on shower drain wil not stay tight

Are you talking silicone in a caulking bottle, or something different? A friend told me to cut out that piece of PVC and install a flexible piece that will give when the floor moves.

Hex nut on shower drain wil not stay tight

Hi folks. Last year, I was in my basement when water started pouring from the ceiling. Luckily, it's a drop ceiling. The hex nut was completely loose. I tightened it by hand. Started leaking the next time someone stepped into the shower. The nut was loose again. I assumed it was due to not being...

    Watts regulator and Sharkbite fittings

Does it matter if I install the reg vertical or horizontal? I will be using the Sharkbite fittings What are the negatives with the SB fittings? My local plumbing supply company highly recommends them and said many plumbers are going this route for their simplicity and reliability.

    Watts regulator and Sharkbite fittings

Ok....good to know. I thought it was either or. Tape, then pipe dope?

    Watts regulator and Sharkbite fittings

Yes, there is a rubber gasket under that nut/union. The Sharkbite fittings are male on one end, and Sharkbite on other. Seemed rational that I inserted the male end of the SB fittings into each female end of the reg. just having a hard time picturing what the union/nut is for on the reg. it...

    Watts regulator and Sharkbite fittings

I'm an electrical guy, and not plumbing, so very ignorant. My water pressure is around 90psi and it's causing issues with leaky faucets, toilets, etc. A few years back, a friend told me to buy a watts regulator and fittings. He has not installed for me, so I want to do it myself. My local...
