A question that I've not been able to get an answer on when comparing a larger softener to a smaller one. If the smaller one regenerates more frequently (because of it's smaller resin bed) than a larger unit, will the end result be more salt and water used because of more frequent regeneration...

Your drawing is correct to what im seeing with her setup. There is not a valve in that location. Thanks for confirming my suspicion. Someone else mentioned the tee may be a valve of somekind to introduce cold water if the water is too hot but i dont think the geothermal can heat it that hot.
