    Kitec, IPEX piping

I talked with insurance rep, and she said that even if it was copper piping, which, in Granbury, TX in slabs it is something that leaks and corrodes, there is no insurance reimbursement for that either. The stuff that gets damaged, like carpet, furniture, wood of walls, etc, that is covered...

    Kitec, IPEX piping

Update: Now more than a year has past since I submitted my Kitec Reimbursement Claim for zero dollars in and effort to simply register before 2020 (the end year of the program, which is a joke) that I had Kitec piping installed. I received a letter reply, in spite of my cover letter that...

    Kitec, IPEX piping

Lawyers worthless; construction warranty long past. Inspectors do the minimum they are require to do, so they don't catch this kind of problem. Original plumber is out of business. Welcome to America. Ultimately, I signed up in advance at the Kitec Settlement website...

    Kitec, IPEX piping

Probably because Canada cares about the people. In the USA, corporate rich folks get the sweet side of the stick. Essentially, the ploy sellers of homes have is that they disclose, but it's buried on the form and stated in vague terms that only an expert would understand. By listing several...

    Kitec, IPEX piping

As an update, I called 3 different lawyers in my home town of Granbury TX. None of them wanted anything to do with a Kitec case. One claimed it was a conflict of interest with the builder. Too small of a town not to run into that kind of crud. I found one lawyer I could talk with an hour...

    Kitec, IPEX piping

Thanks Matt. Yes I already began the registration process. I saw a lawyer yesterday who mostly wasted my time. He recommended I continue with the kitecsettlement.com process and maybe contact the lawyers involved with that. The lawyer said he wouldn't take the case on contingency, in spite...

    Kitec, IPEX piping

By the way, the only place it is visible in my TX house, with a cement slab, is a couple of inches at the fittings of the garage water heater. The rest is all neatly hidden throughout the walls and behind the cabinet backing in kitchens and bathrooms. The only way to see more would be to cut...

    Kitec, IPEX piping

Thanks for the replies. I know it's Kitec pipe because the plumber who changed my water heater recognized it immediately. Yes the fittings are marked KTC and XPA copper type strapping. Of course your answers don't differentiate between USA stamped fittings or Taiwan stamped fittings...

    Kitec, IPEX piping

I have a new home that was built in 2007 sold by the builder and home inspected, with a lack of inspection of the piping. 10 years later, 2017, a plumber who replaced my water heater, says, "You should sell your home now. You have Kitec piping. After days of research, I now see the piping was...

Flapper leak - hard to fix

Just an update; It's been 4 months since my positive repair of replacing the flapper with a Walmart type one. But, now it is back to leaking badly at the seal, even after cleaning both surfaces carefully. An inspection of the flapper surface shows that it is somewhat deformed from most likely...

Flapper leak - hard to fix

Don't forget to take an abrasive sponge to the rubber seat to clean off any residue that might be interfering. Like I mentioned earlier, if the last flapper didn't work, I would have replaced the whole affair with a totally different system, as described in an earlier message.

Flapper leak - hard to fix

Thankfully, the new flapper (ala the Walmart one described earlier) fixed our leaking issue. Yaye. Don't ask me why that one works better than the original or the replacement I bought at Lowes that didn't work. The Ebay seller, who said he'd get back to me with the false advertising of...

Flapper leak - hard to fix

Hi IFIX. I don't believe there are any tablets in use in the problem toilet at the moment. The one in the picture is the working one. But I will keep that in mind. I didn't know those tablets were problematic. The first time I cleaned the flapper and seal I did use a fine grade...

Flapper leak - hard to fix

I'm positive it's the flapper and seal that begins leaking after awhile. As soon as I clean the seal and refill with water, it goes from the trickling leak sound to dead silent. And then after 10 or more hours I'd say, it starts making noise leaking a bit again and it gets somewhat more noisy...

Flapper leak - hard to fix

By the way, since, if I clean the female seal at the bottom of the tank with a scrungy sponge, and it seals fine for a day or two and then starts leaking again, this makes me suspicious of the water quality. In my town, there's a tendency to have allot of dissolved solids in the water. It...

Flapper leak - hard to fix

Thanks. As far as the handle pointing down too much, not sure what to tell you about that. The handle and rod assy simply go in one way and tighten with a nut. So how much it sags, I think, is simply part of the design. Not sure how I would affect that. From a flushing standpoint, it seems...

Flapper leak - hard to fix

Wow. Good info. It is an American Standard. It says 6.0 LPF next to the name, if that helps. I will keep all suggestions deeply in mind. Part of my thinking though is affected by a potential job offer in another state in the near future. If that happens, I may just rent out the house for...

Flapper leak - hard to fix

Actually, you can't tell from the picture, but I did remove most of the slack by using a clip affair to tie up some links. So I really did try to make the slack the most efficient length along with ensuring it wouldn't snag when the lever is released. And I tested it a bunch of times. It's...
