Heating Oil Tank 275 Gal Leaking

I went through the same thing. I’ve heard of magnetic patches that can be installed but I doubt that solution can be used here based on what you’ve described, plus it’s only a temporary fix. They do sell containment trays that can catch your slow leak. One company is Oil Yeller. Anyway, here’s...

    Pex Crimp Issue?

I’m guessing he means an adapter that you’d sweat on the existing copper and would have a barb for PEX crimp. Is that Sharkbite fitting accessible or will it be behind a finished wall?

If you can’t extended the PVC pickup tube of the secondary pump, I guess you have no choice but to cut up the copper supply. I’d absolutely run PEX! Should be pretty easy to do assuming you have the tools to make the PEX connections. If not, there’s always Sharkbite.

Well, in the setup I have, the discharge pipe from the primary pump goes straight up and into a check valve. If I loosen up the clamp I’m able to rotate my pump around the basin. Perhaps you could do that to get some more room in the basin. Just a thought.

Advice for new setting up new UV system

This is where I was headed with my question. I’d get rid of the 1/2” reducer out of the jet pump and use 3/4” pex. I’m guessing you don’t have any pex tools, right? Your going to have to select a pex type: cold expansion or crimp. The tools to make the connections aren’t cheap, but they are...

Can you rotate your primary pump and extend the backup pump pickup tube to go deeper into the basin so you don’t have to mess with the copper? Also, are you constantly losing power? I’m assuming when the primary pump is working everything is fine, right?

Advice for new setting up new UV system

Just a quick question for you. You said the discharge from your jet pump is 1/2” PEX. Can you post a picture of that?

Primary Sump Pump Suggestion Zoeller vs Ridgid or something else?

Hello, Jeff. I just searched the archives here and it looks like I installed my Liberty pump in 2012. I did a lot of research before buying the pump and couldn’t be happier with the quality and performance. If someone is looking for a primary pump, they should look at the options from Liberty...

Primary Sump Pump Suggestion Zoeller vs Ridgid or something else?

I highly recommend Liberty Pumps. I‘m surprised nobody has mentioned them yet.

    Sump Pump Options

I’m a big fan of Liberty pumps. I would highly recommend one of them for your primary pump, and they do offer battery backup options. That being said, I don’t think the battery option would work for you. At least with your current setup cycling as frequently as it is. I wonder if you could...

Sump Pump Discharge to Dry Well

Gutter drain? There is no gutter drain here, and that is my neighbor's house, not mine. I was pumping out to the street via my front lawn and driveway, but that created a very dangerous ice sheet! For what it's worth I ended up burying a drywell (NDS Flo well) and it has been working OK. If...

Wow, great pictures. Thanks for sharing, and, nice work!

    Sump Pump Discharge to Drywell?

I don't mean to hijack mdog78's thread, but I just got off the phone with the city. They offered zero help, and the plumbing inspector said that he has nothing to do with ground water - only waste water. I can't hookup to the storm water drains, and you can't pump into the sewer. I think my only...

    Radiator bleed valve worn down

meisha, I think what they're saying is you'll need to shut down the boiler and release the pressure in the system. Usually there's a drain of some sort near the boiler that will need to be opened until there is zero (or almost zero) PSI in the loop, then you'll be able to replace that valve...

    Sump Pump Discharge to Drywell?

Hang in there, MDOG78, FRODO will fix this! :) I just called the city, because I can't find info like you just posted on the internet. The only person I would think I could talk to about it (plumbing inspector) is out sick, so he's going to call me back. I have a feeling it will be pretty...

    Sump Pump Discharge to Drywell?

I struggle with this same issue. I'm also in the NE, and it's a nightmare problem. My house passed inspection with the sump pumping directly into the sewer system in clear view. Some people say because of the age of the house, it's "grandfathered", but I have no idea if that's true. I drain...

Sani Sticks - Plumbing Miracle, or Scam?

Just saw an ad on TV for these, but I wonder if this can be true? If so, it could be the plumbing miracle all homeowners have been waiting for! All you have to do is drop one these into the trap once per month and you'll never get a clogged drain again. And, the sink/drain will smell great!

Which sump pump should I buy?

Snap a couple pictures of the discharge you have, that may help determine what you need for a replacement pump. I wouldn't replace that pump until it quits working, but it would be a good idea to figure out what you need to move the water (HP) and have it ready to swap in when the old one quits...
