What to expect - Roots in the Drain

Well, since this post was brought back to life I'll give an update. My neighbor has a 50' 1/2" Ridgid auger that we've been taking back and forth (he's owned it for years and runs it every 3-4 months for precautionary measures. Its not quite long enough for my section of the line, but it gets...

Street Workers Damaged our Water Line

Thanks for the input everyone. As a quick update - I agree that it would be worth it to replace the whole line, however the company is unwilling. They traditionally do not do any kind of residential work so they are avoiding it if they can. If for some reason the connection point does not...

Street Workers Damaged our Water Line

Looks like they're a good honest company. They're replacing our water line about 20 feet up until almost where it enters the house... we didn't even have to ask. I am concerned about the steel be cut, threaded, and joined with the pex they're putting in... not sure if that's warranted or not.

Street Workers Damaged our Water Line

Hey all! I live on a main state road in utah and a large construction company has been putting in a new massive gas line. It is going to be running directly below our sidewalk. Where they came to our water main they were digging around it by hand with a shovel and hit it. The pipe is...

What to expect - Roots in the Drain

water jet isn't going to work - as it will just spray the water right back into our neighbors drains. Our drain systems meet together in a straight line and T off to the street (see the picture above). Pipelining, for the reason stated above, also won't solve anything except repairing the area...

What to expect - Roots in the Drain

Yeah, replacement is likely the best route as I'm with you guys on paying larger up front and never having to worry about it again. I've attached an ugly paint file to give you guys an idea of how/where the line runs. (red=house, green=grass/dirt, grey=asphalt, blue=current sewer lines...

What to expect - Roots in the Drain

Yeah, replacement would be the best option, however I found out a bit more details: The house use to have a septic tank so the sewer line goes into the back yard about 15 feet, and then 15 feet over into the neighbors yard. it's about a foot into their yard (under the driveway) when it meets...

What to expect - Roots in the Drain

Hey all, I've spent a few hours reading some old posts and various things around the good ole interwebs. We have a root issue in our sewer drain. Pipes are cast iron to the yard and then clay pipes. about 2 months ago we had a drain back up so we had a roto rooter type guy come out and...
