    Classic Kitchen Faucet Q

Kind of a grainy picture but you may have better luck identifying it if you can remove the cartridge and post a picture

Pissed off with stainless steel fittings

Where I’m at, suppliers are really pushing stainless steel in larger volumes now. For the last couple of years stainless was available but brass was still king. Now you’re lucky to find everything you want in brass and stainless is taken over. The price has stainless has come down, so not much...

New construction basement plumbing with no plans. How to measure for walls?

Residential drawings here (Nova Scotia, Canada) only show you the placement of fixtures. We don’t get a rough in schematic. It’s up to the plumber to lay out the plumbing on site including measuring out walls to make sure your pipes are inside them. I think I’ve got it nailed down to a game of...

New construction basement plumbing with no plans. How to measure for walls?

Not really an option sadly. Not an ideal situation where the homeowner is acting as GC from another province. The original foundation company who were doing the ICF took off with the guys money, and the only company he could get in to replace them only does standard concrete forms. The...

New construction basement plumbing with no plans. How to measure for walls?

I’m taking on a new build that has gone a little haywire. A switch up from ICF footings and foundation to standard concrete walls on footings designed for ICF blocks have rendered the blueprints I was given useless as the measurements will now all be off. From what I can tell, an 8” concrete...

Main water shutoff gate valve leak

I guess that spends on what broke. Did the stem of the valve snap? Or did the handle just fall off from the screw that holds it on rusting away? either way you should be able to aperate the valve by putting vice grips on the stem and turning it, but if it’s inthe kind of state where stuff is...

Help! What Black Sealer used and How to Break it

Probably some hardware store flex seal spray on solution. The last person to mess with it likely couldn’t get it to seal up 100%

    What did you do today?

I like service work, just not a fan of pulling well pumps by hand, crawling in septic tanks without proper safety equipment and thawing pipes under mini homes on my stomach. It makes the body sore! I’ve plumbed hundreds of residential homes. Condos can’t be too bad!

    What did you do today?

I put my two weeks notice into my employer yesterday. Kind of an odd feeling. I’ve worked for this guy for almost 10 years, still have a lot of respect for the guy and love the atmosphere and the crew. I needed a change though. I’m only 35 and my body is beat to **** from service work the “hard...

    How do i replace this?

Some have a set screw on the underside close to the wall. It takes an Allen key to loosen it then it just pulls off

    Moen bathtub handle backwards

If the HC is up, and hot and cold are backwards, the lines on the valve are backwards

Dodgy pipework - water leak waiting to happen?

The only thing really dodgy looking is that they used pipe wrenches and marred the brass nuts all up. Should have used crescent wrenches. In situations like that where you can’t move the pipe from the hole, you gotta use elbows that’s what they’re made for. It sucks but little leaks happen...

Delta Shower head spraying at odd place

I’ve had this happen with a couple Delta heads. Just contact customer service and they will send you a new head. It cannot be repaired

    Pipe Patch Kits

I’ve used products like that here and there as a temporary fix until a professional repair can be scheduled

I guess there's cat litter in the toilet - creating a partial plug?

My bad. I fully admit I quickly read the whole post but my brain didn’t register much.

I guess there's cat litter in the toilet - creating a partial plug?

Muratic acid is potent, potent stuff. I would suspect the reaction would crack the toilet anyway. But I wouldn’t want to find out. Sulfuric acid would be a better option. But ultimately replacing the toilet is the only 100% guarentee. Did Rooter snake the drain to make sure it’s not a partial...

Is replacing heater elements covered by a plumber's "warranty"???

Just to give you an idea, where I live it’s pretty standard that company’s don’t honour labour costs in warranty items unless it’s within their own warranty period. For example if I sell you a 6 year warranty hot water heater my works man ship will be warrantied for 90 days. After that anything...

I guess there's cat litter in the toilet - creating a partial plug?

Chemical cleaners will be useless for cat litter. Best thing is to manually clean it out with an auger like previously suggested
