    pressure relief valve test

I've read the label on some T&P valves. It actually says that you are supposed to test them once a year. Apparently this is a good idea so that they don't get stuck in the closed position, creating a potential bomb. Do a search on youtube. I'll bet you can find the one where a water heater...

    Newbie trying an install.

I've never heard of that either. For the amount of water that a person actually drinks from their home in one day, if you are depending on getting a balanced diet of minerals from your water, you probably aren't eating a properly balanced diet. Plus wouldn't you have to just about drown...

    Whole house filters

Well, I guess after time, that's the impurities and/or junk in the water supply that settles out there. Dump it, rinse out the tank and start over. Easy to do once the salt supply has been depleted.

    Whole house filters

The thread has gone no where near the original question asked, but that's ok with me. Apparently no one other than homes in NE Wisconsin have whole house filters. I've had one since my first home I bought in 1992. We lived in a sandy region and our wash machine screens always plugged with...

    Whole house filters

Observing whether or not the flow meter indicator is working, is salt being used, does my water feel soft and is the brine tank water level staying within it's limits without my intervention. Just the basics. It's simple. When someone calls and says that their water feels hard dnad it's not...

    Whole house filters

speedbump, Either we are not talking about the same thing or you are letting your pet peeve get in the way. The whole house filters we install have WAY more than a 1 gallon per minute flow. we almost alway install them upstream of our iron filters and softeners because they almost...

    Whole house filters

I've never installed a filter before the pressure tank, but I've seen it done twice because of such large amounts of sand coming in the well line. Personally, I don't like the idea.

    tankless with 40gal tank backup

Slojak, Have you considered piping the water heaters in series, putting the old one first to use as a tempering tank (don't even turn the electricity on), which could help reduce the heating load on the tankless, then if the tankless fails to heat, just turn on the breaker to the old one so...

    Whole house filters

Either one. Also, if you use a filter for ice cube makers or designated drinking water at the kitchen sink/bar sink, whatever. Just curious what people are using. Thanks,

    Prepping for winter?

I winterize/drain approximately 225 houses each Fall. I also winterize a dozen or so lawn sprinkler systems. I tow a 4 cylinder diesel air compressor behind my work van and hook on to the main water line that feeds the sprinkler system. All of the sprinkler systems in our area of Rain Bird...

    Whole house filters

Hi, Who here has a whole house water filter? What kind of filter cartridge are you using in it? How often do you change the cartridge and does it look like it is working, however you may want to define it? Last question, did you get a water sample analysis that showed what was in...

    Help! At a total loss???

Things must be different in Florida. We install a lot of 4.5"x20" 5 micron whole house filters. They are more than "one faucet" filters. Also, we don't run hosebibs on filtered water. If his well needs to be run off, do through a hosebib, not the fixtures. Rather interesting to hear how...

    Help! At a total loss???

Maybe I'm reading into too far, but why would you get rid of the filter? Just change the cartridge. We install whole house filters a lot. It keeps a ton of crap from fouling fixtures. It's easier to change one filter than 6 aerators, 3 shower heads, wash machine screens and emptying water...
