Challenge: Stuff a Towel Down Your Toilet

What exactly is being discussed? A new fill valve design that fills fast and that cuts after every flush and will not flood your house if a clogged drain meets a leaky flapper. It will meet all state codes.

Challenge: Stuff a Towel Down Your Toilet

How would another flapper cut off the fill valve?

New Kitchen Faucet with flow/spray problem

Just installed Home Depot Glacier Bay kitchen faucet with separate spray. The flow is weak from the faucet but fine from the spray. Hit the spray and the faucet runs better. I believe that there is an internal divert valve that is hanging. I have seen this once before on a different...

    Plastic Globe Valve Success?

There are several large manufacturers who produce these globe valves without washers.

    Plastic Globe Valve Success?

Thanks, I don't know if the 20+ year old design is the same as the current builds. Do you remember how the valves failed? What valve was used for replacement?

    Plastic Globe Valve Success?

Thanks for the pressure relief information. A ball valve is not an option, the valve must have a threaded stem for the intended purpose.

    Plastic Globe Valve Success?

1/2" plastic ball valves are too hard to turn in comparison. The restricted flow is not a problem. It must be plastic. Have you used these plastic globe valves without rubber seals?

    Plastic Globe Valve Success?

Stuck open flapper house flood damage

Do you wait long enough to notice a slow leaky flapper?

    My ideal toilet demonstration:

I am imagining a demo of a toilet design that we are prototyping: Criteria: No electronics, batteries, etc. Purely mechanical. 20 second tank fill. 1: Flush the toilet, everything seems normal. Tank refills. 2: Reach in and remove flapper, toilet flushes, no refill occurs. Tank is...

Stuck open flapper house flood damage

If a toilet that could not flood under these conditions could be invented, would you buy it?

Stuck open flapper house flood damage

Have you ever seen a house flooded due to a fill valve flowing, an open flapper, and a clogged drain?

    Sharkbite fittings

We mounted a 30 gallon lowboy water heater on a shelf over a clothes washer. There was almost no room to work with soldered connections. We used shark fittings and everything barely fit together. No leaks, and best of all they are quickly disconnected using a cheap plastic tool. I highly...

    Sump Pump Battery Back-Up

When I was planning my house a fellow at work said this to me: "If gutters cost $1,000 spend $2,000 to gain more overhang and swale the earth instead." I am glad that I took his advice. I enjoyed watching the leaves blow away instead of clogging up the downspouts and creating ice dams...

    Sump Pump Battery Back-Up

Don't use the inverter to run your main sump pump. Use a smaller pump for emergency backup. BTW I built a house in Maryland. I tapered the earth (swale) away from the house to prevent surface water from reaching the foundation walls. No gutters, 24" eaves, and no sump. Very dry below...
