I wonder what happens if you override the pressure relief valve while it is howling?

odd... the gas side of things is pretty straight forward...the howling has to come from the water side of things...but sounds like there should not be a reason for it.

i see...that will make the job a little easier. None of these concoctions of iron were ever supported under this place... just sit on top of the clay pipe...was this the norm back then?

that is kinda what i keep going back to when thinking about this mess...how much do you suppose this might all weigh...i will prob overdue the strapping anyway...there is a joist right above there,,,strapping would be simple enough.

and it only takes 10-15 secs to start howling? why did ya replace the control valve in the first place? I know if the dip tube is broke on some of these heaters they will start acting funny.

first thought is that your making steam so go to a sink and make sure your getting some water out of the hot water side of the sink. purge any air. then manually override the pressure release valve for a second to purge any air...you should be getting water out of both places....verify that the...

is there a bleader valve that might be loose?

ya sorry, that was kind of a dumb question...i am assuming that you did not mess with the water side of the heater??? Just the gas/control side of things?

Hello all, I have a mess and quite the project on my hands here. I am a handy guy but this is outside my comfort zone. I think my comfort zone is gonna expand after this project because i have no option to hire this out... I am hoping to get some advice and guidance during this research so...
