    Noisy faucet

I couldn't really make out the "thunk" over the background noise of your dishwasher. However I believe it is due to water hammer. Install some water hammer arrestors under the sink before the supplies. As for the shaky spout. It's a Pfister....... I mean no offense, but you get what you...

    Hydronic baseboard too long

Tin snips work great for that. Make sure they are sharp. I recommend "practicing" on the old stuff just so you can see how it's gonna go. Also, be sure to install a "bleeder" 90 on the farthest turn from the boiler. This will help in any future repairs and your initial startup.

    Ejector pump basin lid

Looks like a standard lid. They are made of plastic now. Go to your local plumbing supply with the diameter and see if you cant get matched up. You may have to move some pipes a little but shouldn't be too tough.

    Hot or Cold?

What kind of water heater is it? Define "first time it had been on". How far from heater to bathroom?

    New Construction (shoddy plumbing)

Not making excuses for the guy here but.... Underground plumbing is difficult. Muddy, wet, and sloppy tools can lead to muddy, wet, and sloppy vent (I'm assuming its a vent) pipes. Its also generally dark when your doing an underground. Adding to the difficulty. I've had concrete guys...

    Recirc pump at full speed?

Piping a Rinnai with a 10-12 gallon buffer is in my opinion the very best method with a re-circ. The small tank is economical to run and service. It also relieves the "cold water sandwich". The Grundfos with a built in timer is a reliable and competitively priced unit. As far as being...

Water softener sending debris through pipes?

Are you sure it's salt? Could it be dip tube?

Best Way to Repair Leak in 4" PVC Sewer Drain

Yeah, you gotta cut it out and glue in a new fitting. As a side note I noticed you said "Fernco" Majak. I thought for sure that was only a Detroit term. Fernco's originated here in Ferndale, Michigan. Which is a neighboring city of Detroit. I thought most of the country called them rubber...

Drain Cap in Basement floor leaks when it rains

Its a storm drain and its full of roots. The wing nut is what we call around here an expansion plug. If I cut out a threaded cap and the threads get trashed in the process, this cap has a rubber gasket that expands when you tighten the wing nut. Call a plumber!

    Washing machine plumbing

You are correct Phish. By making it a closed system you are connecting the water supply of the house to the sewer. The "Air Break", is a necessary design for backflow prevention, not letting air into the line. Your existing vent is already enough for that. Secondly, how will you know if...

    Water Hammer

That heater is installed backwards, Im almost positive. Hot on left Cold on right. Always. Even on water heaters. And judging from the angle this picture is taken. Assuming it was installed with the gas valve facing the door. That thing is backwards.

    Bathtub drain problem

Yeah you should definitely hire a pro. A real pro not a handy guy who has done plumbing before. I remodeled 2 hotels a while back and we had to intall 124 bathtubs in this manner. There are actually quite a few things that can go wrong. And you definitely want to replace that waste...

How to stop a Drain Leak in the ceiling?

Im afraid the only way is to open the drywall and see whats going on.

    bath tub faucet cartridge

I noticed that you removed the "supporting" nuts allowing the brass to drop down. It would likely be much easier to do this repair with that nut back in place. Holding the whole assembly in place while you pull out the cartridge will help greatly.

Ahhhhh, the old plastic baggie over the pipe. Everybody knows duct tape is the proper stop gap in this situation.:D

When toilets were simple...an original 4 holer!

Love the decorating style of this bathroom. Very Deliverance with a hint of ancient Rome.

    another vent question

It may sound drastic but the easiest way is to dump some water in the vent. If you don't see or hear any sign of the water then proceed to put the garden hose in there. You definitely want to find any leaks or problems on your terms and not mother natures.
