Recently after having my septic tank pumped out, the plumber advised that I should add about 5 lbs of powdered salt every month or so to help keep the field lines clear. But I have read elsewhere that salt is not a good thing to add. Don't know who to believe.

Thanks for the info. When I get back over to my rental, I will check to try and do the temporary fix. Would love just to be able to replace the stem assembly but probably difficult to locate exact same type model #.
