    Unsolved Whining Noise

Do you have a water softener? It does sound like you have restricted water flow getting by something. My water softener rattles our house when it flushes the effluent. I haven’t heard of an on demand heat pump but I am going to go ahead and ask. By chance is your heat pump on demand? On demand...

    Squealing shower

Wow that’s a cool tidbit of advice I didn’t know as a licensed plumber. The screw hole location to determine the cartridge. I like that. It’s a nice time saver.

Copper pipe corrosion under kitchen sink

I don’t have time to look at the moment. Interesting about the Reverse Osmosis filter. I have a RODI filter for my salt water reef tank. I have had several different Reverse Osmosis Deionization filters over the last 12 years. 75 Gallons per day 90 Gallons per day etc. I hav never had an issue...

Copper pipe corrosion under kitchen sink

Do you have a soap dispenser above? Strange how it’s where the electrical outlet is. Mineral reaction to an electrical field? Can you rule that out? Soapy water inn your hands running down the sprayer handle and down the beaded hose? Better yet a reaction to the dissimilar metals in contact...

    Gas Explosion in Mass.

Hello, I haven’t read the previous responses yet but I just finished replying to an email asking the licensed MA plumbers to help. I asked for more information. I do know that they have about 175 Plumbers out of 400 needed that are signed up. They will survey all of the homes and report on them...

Sewer smell from overflows when using sinks

Try getting on the roof and looking down the vents with a flashlight. Something may have built a nest in your vent. That is another avenue you can explore.

    Too many floods...bad design?

Same here in MA! You need a wye instead of a Sanatary Tee there. The line you have draining into the left side (if possible) should be raised a bit higher and you should use a “combo” Street 45 into a wye with a clean out. For now, try using Scott single ply toilet paper and try to use less...

Can I just put a bunch of magnesium in the tank instead of an anode?

I stopped reading a few replies back. The plumbing code is there to protect you. They write codes usually after an accident to try to insure that you are protected from history repeating itself. That said. If we don’t hear from you after you attempt to do it your way. We know why.

    Water pressure too high?

You have to loosen the nit to turn the screw. Try a 1/4 turn at a time. Give ample time for the gauge to adjust after you’ve run water at the new pressure setting.

    Water pressure too high?

Fixtures are rated at 65psi for consistent use, frodo is correct PRV is the correct route to go. If you don’t have one, you should look into one. You’ll need a licensed plumber to install and adjust your pressure. You are o. The right track. Hi pressure will cause the toilet to squeal however...

    Compact Disposal?

You are opting for more problems, noise, smell, leaks, vibration, electrical issues vs a 17 gauge branch tailpiece. I would skip the disposal.

    Leak around sink drain basket

stick with the single nut! 3 screws to tighten it down just gives you that much more room for error. Make sure you’re not using so much putty that it’s not squeezing out between the rubber gasket and the SS sink. If that’s the case too much putty or over tightening. Clean the rubber gasket and...
