What tool to hold on to these brass fittings?

I see. I was looking at Harbor Freight for cheap tools, I didn't know Walmart carries them too. Thanks!

How to insert the barbed end of brass/pvc fitting into this black irrigation pipe?

The pipe is buried underground. I cannot take it to my grill.

What tool to hold on to these brass fittings?

Thanks for your suggestion! The tongue and groove plier I used looks like knipex. It slipped though. Maybe it’s because the jaw of my plier is not round enough like Hamberg suggested.

How to insert the barbed end of brass/pvc fitting into this black irrigation pipe?

Thank you for the suggestion! I don't have a heat gun either. But I can give my hair dryer a try before heading out to buy any tool. It sounds like the hair dryer could be more powerful than the boiling water.

Yes, it looks like it’s poly pipe. I need to go buy a torch gun then. Thank you for the reply!

How to insert the barbed end of brass/pvc fitting into this black irrigation pipe?

Hi there, I need to cap off this 1" irrigation pipe. It's hard to tell what material this black pipe is made of, it is something between rubber and pvc. Soaking it in boiling water for a few minutes didn't make it more pliable. I couldn't insert either the brass fitting or the blue fitting...

What tool to hold on to these brass fittings?

Thank you very much for the suggestion! It’s funny, I do have a 9” long nose vice grip lying around in my toolbox, however, I have never figured out how to use it. Now after seeing your suggestion, I searched for and finally learned its proper usage.

What tool to hold on to these brass fittings?

I'd like to unscrew the two fittings apart: the left one is a 1" barb x 3/4" male MPT - the surface got marred by my tongue & groove plier. the right one is a 3/4" female FPT x 3/4" female FPT - this one has 2 ridges. Are there some special tools to hold on to these fittings?

How to clean this brass valve?

The valve is discontinued. I couldn’t find it anywhere. Yes, I’ll have to replace all the o-rings. I hope there’s a magic paste that would dissolve the corrosion :-) and save me some elbow grease.

How to clean this brass valve?

Hi there, the following attached pictures: 1) the valve I removed from my 20-year-old radiant heat manifold 2) the same valve after soaking in the cooking white vinegar for 20 minutes & scrubbing with metal wool, I was able to remove the corrosion on the threads but not on the bottom part 3) the...

Why are my FlowTite valves oily?

My house was built in year 2000. These FlowTite valves were installed by the builder. Could it be that the plumber used some kind of oil to lubricate the threads?

Why are my FlowTite valves oily?

This happens to all my FlowTite tubes, I have 19 of them in total. All felt oily on the outside, even the toilet water supply lines. I first noticed the green stuff on one of my kids’ bathroom toilet, see picture. Then I went to check all the other lines and found out they are all oily and some...

Here are the pictures of the greenish oil on the FlowTite tubes I cut out.

What are the differences between various push-in valves

Hi pakle, sawing off the compression ring doesn't sound right to me. If the pipe is not deformed, he should be able to remove the ring by using tools like "compression sleeve puller" sold at Home Depot (Armour Line Adjustable Faucet Handle and Compression Sleeve Puller-RP77233 - The Home Depot)...

What are the differences between various push-in valves

I found laying those blue shop paper towels under water fixtures is very helpful in spotting water leaks.

What are the differences between various push-in valves

Thanks for sharing your story, pakle! I felt the same stress and frustration with these stop valves! I have 19 such valves, all Accor FlowTite type installed by the builder 20 years ago. They actually performed okay these years except felt oily & sticky on the outside of the tube. But once they...
