    Shower handle: longer housing?

    Looks like this

    Shower handle: longer housing?

Yeah that's probably too but I'm trying to fix it without busting open the wall because I'm out of tile. Ugh.

    Shower handle: longer housing?

Installing this shower: https://www.build.com/delta-t17433-i/s1746323?uid=4125939&quantity=1 The housing/escutcheon pièce (cylinder) that covers the mixer and handle attaches to is too short. It's 2" but I need a bit longer because it's not sitting flush. Do they make longer than 2"? Checking...

    Tile application shower wall?

Applying tiles to shower walls. Tiles are ceramic, long and thin maybe 2" x 12" sort of like long rectangles and 3/8" thick. What's the best application method for shower walls? Thinset? Waterproof thinset? Tile adhesive? I had some omnigrip lightweight in my cart but then noticed it...

Shower valve too deep (too much thinset) Help!

Just chiming in here to close the loop on this project. We didn't have to move anything with the valve itself and just went with the recessed cutout. Took the thinset off area just behind this cutout without damaging the cement board. Put on less thinset, new stone backing, and the border. Looks...

    Ceramic Mixer Valve - Extension?

Hi All - I'm chipping away at a problem here and wondering if it's possible to purchase (from replacement parts store) an extension for the bottom valve here (see photos). As I have mentioned elsewhere, it is a non-standard brand ("Artbath") and I'm trying to determine if I can replace this...

Boiler help - pressure release constantly triggers; no heat

I don't think it's a question of overdoing it. I think the old valve was bad and just not letting the system get over 10-15 psi. Although we put no a release valve with a higher rating (60 psi), I think it would still be working fine with a new 30 PSI gauge. You can see the photo fo the bad...

Boiler help - pressure release constantly triggers; no heat

The pressure gauge on boiler is working, yes. It's reading 30 PSI right now. The system needed more pressure for sure, as you say. I will check the Max W.P. when I get home. I might try to get the pressure down to 25 PSI and see if it's still warm up at the top. House is approximately 42 ft...

Shower valve too deep (too much thinset) Help!

Hard no in response to my finding longer valves in previous post?

Shower valve too deep (too much thinset) Help!

The wall is 1/4" stone, so if it comes out, in addition to the new hardiboard behind it, I have to buy another $600 slab and have it all re-done. Might still be the right call, but it gonna be a tough sell. Is it not possible to remove these valve cartridges at the base (in the back where...

Boiler help - pressure release constantly triggers; no heat

An update here: it seems like the (new as of last year) release valve was the problem (comparison photo attached). We put on a valve that is rated for 60 PSI (instead of 30 like the old one). System is now fully pressurized with water throughout the house and is generally sitting around 30 PSI...

Boiler help - pressure release constantly triggers; no heat

This is really helpful. Thanks very much. Plumber-in-law was there all day today and says he's got it working. I'll take a look at the situation when I get home from work and upload relevant pictures if need be! Thanks so much to this community. It's been a real source of sanity.

Shower valve too deep (too much thinset) Help!

This would be like a little recessed cutout/box in which just the faucet handle sits? Not sure my wife would go for the look of that, though we may be past aesthetics at this point.

Boiler help - pressure release constantly triggers; no heat

So yes, I have the pin and the cap w/ lever on it. It's just not pictured here because I had removed it to screw the threaded portion down. Plumber-in-law says that fast-filling the system will blow the pressure and cause problems, but slow-filling it doesn't seem to be working either. This...

Boiler help - pressure release constantly triggers; no heat

You mean from a safety perspective? Most of today I had a decent sized puddle of water on floor. I assumed release was blowing periodically. Tonight as I was re-pressurizing the system (screwing down the thread on the pressure regulator) I noticed that the pipe on the release valve was...

Boiler help - pressure release constantly triggers; no heat

Some way or another we're getting air in the system OR it's not being eliminated. Maybe the scoop is bad. Maybe there are pockets of air throughout the system (which is weirdly piped, my plumber-in-law tells me). After I filled it with water to the top last night, we had no water up at the top...

Shower valve too deep (too much thinset) Help!

What about the plastic piece beneath it for the mix valve? Are extensions for those pieces standard? Might not matter anyway because if I can't get extensions for the metal sleeves (in black no less. good luck.) then it won't hold the faceplate.

Shower valve too deep (too much thinset) Help!

Roof drains and vents immediately behind, then exterior wall. Can't get behind it.

Boiler help - pressure release constantly triggers; no heat

I increased it every 20-30 minutes and the pressure on the gauge didn't move. Stayed at 10-12 PSI.

Shower valve too deep (too much thinset) Help!

I have literally one thing preventing me from finishing my full bed/bath reno and it's that my installer used 1" of thinset instead of 3/8"- so now my shower valve is too deep in the wall. The water separator, mixer valve, and metal sleeves are now too short to fit the faceplate and handles...
