    What did you do today?

We were lucky with the weather. It was pouring rain and solid overcast when we woke up. But the edge of that weather system moved away to the East just in time to open up blue skies for the eclipse. There were only a few very high wispy clouds, which I think even helped, as the black shadow...

    What did you do today?

The eclipse was totally AWESOME ! The moon casts a 90-mile wide shadow, through which you can see stars in the sky in mid-afternoon. It's not full darkness, the sun is still lighting the ground all around the horizon beyond the edges of that shadow. Instead of a sunset in the West, it looks...

Meanwhile someone else believes only peons are meant to pay taxes, whereas claiming to be a multi-billionaire while paying no taxes at all, "That makes me smart."

How do I remove this cartridge?

Why was my link to Amazon removed? Trying again... amazon.com/Copper-Thermostatic-Faucet-Cartridge-Temperature/dp/B018VWU6TS/

How do I remove this cartridge?

Disclaimer: I am NOT a plumber, and I'm NOT saying this is the same valve. But it sure looks similar to what's shown in your photos. I found this valve core on Amazon: The circular collar, which you've already removed, looks as though that's all that retains the core inside the valve body...

Anyone know how to remove this Kohler shower faucet?

If it's like the one in my video with the gold fixtures, you would turn the bonnet clockwise. On mine the handle slides down over the splines on the cartridge. So you're limited in turning the handle only as far as the cartridge permits when turning the water on/off. Otherwise you could...

Anyone know how to remove this Kohler shower faucet?

Is that trim plate all one single piece, or is there a seam at the red line shown in this image? If those are two separate pieces then it might unscrew like in this video of my Kohler sink faucet. Note how the bonnet unscrews clockwise out from the bottom of the handle.

    NEWBIE HERE

That is a gorgeous car deserving all the love you pour into it. When I see the newest modern Corvette batmobiles, I wonder, what the #$%^ were they thinking when they came up with hideous monstrosity?

Moen 1222 replacement thinks up is "off".

My bad, as usual. :beeroclock: Twowaxhack is absolutely correct. These stop valves are 1/4 turn barrel valves, not threaded at all, only retained by the clips.

Moen 1222 replacement thinks up is "off".

The stops, when screwed all the way in, close off the water. That way you can work on replacing the stem without needing to turn off the water supply to the whole house. If the stops are screwed all the way out, i.e. ALL the way without those clips in place, they'll come right out of the valve...

    Well this happened today

Ha! "Grounded". I see what you did there. I did the nine-volt battery-on-tongue test on my kids. You can certainly feel the buzz from just a little nine-volt battery. Now imagine how much worse a shock of 120 volts would feel from any wall outlet or extension cord ! They never went near...

    Well this happened today

Phew. For a moment there I thought you meant I have to go around once a year sticking a fork in every outlet to confirm the breaker trips. :beeroclock:

    Septic Drain Field Issue?

And (speaking from unfortunate experience) be sure to clean that filter frequently! Otherwise the filter will eventually clog up and block the outflow causing your septic tank to overflow. That's really not good, eh.

Total Newbie Well Water Softening question

One thing to watch out for if you're installing a water softener, the salt may react badly with the magnesium anode in your water heater, as I found out a few years ago. Switching to an aluminum anode cured that problem. See this previous thread...

Can't get / keep prime?; recurring problem

We had a similar problem at our cottage. Pump lost prime. I had to go down to the lake, fill a bucket with water, schlepp that back up the hill to pour through a funnel into intake line, rinse and repeat... After about twenty runs up and down the hill carrying a heavy bucket of water, the...

    What did you do today?

That's what impressed me the most. Not just the VOLUME of water that came out within those few seconds, but how FAR it could shoot out of those valves. Just image a pipe breaks while you're away on vacation.... Eek.

    What did you do today?

She did help me mop up the mess. So blaming her would have been "unwise". Especially dangerous while she was armed (locked and loaded) with a wet mop.
