    Complete Renovation

Started laying in the flooring, and running the under floor pex supply lines.

    Complete Renovation

Finally got back from a work trip, and had the inspector over. He passed it in about 3 minutes, and said go ahead and bury it. He was in a hurry, but I managed to ask him about my condensate line. He'll allow me to drop it into the stand pipe for the washer, as long as it is above the trap.

    Sprung a leak!

I'm not a plumber, but have used Sharkbite's before. It looks like there is some sort of residue/corrosion/old solder where the leaking connector is slid onto the copper. The pipe needs to be clean to seal properly.

    Complete Renovation

Here is the only 4 inch main in the entire house. It is the main vent, and sits between the two toilets. This will be coming out. I cut the elbow, and attached the new 4" pvc with a Fernco coupling. This will be removed later, when I remove the two front toilets. Under the...

    Complete Renovation

I am redoing my entire house. The previous owner did the last "renovation" by himself, without permits. I will taring everything back to the block walls, and installing 100% new plumbing and electrical. I will also be adding another full bath. This was the utility room, housing the...

    Plumbing Schematic

All the piping is in the ground, and tied into the main. I had to make a few changes do to spacing issues. A quick call to the inspector, and he said I don't need the 5 ft extension for my washer. This would have involved jack hammering another 50 sq. ft of the slab,

The path to the eaves will have to be along my vaulted ceiling. Should I run this over the insulation, or under? My roof is metal, and has R-8 foam under it, so either way there will be some insulation factor.

The drain has a trap at the furnace. Something along the lines of this:

    Plumbing Schematic

So I had a little bit of a curve ball thrown at me. My condensate line used to run into my washer drain. Probably not code, but I'm gutting all and starting over. I thought I could run the drain outside, but I have a condensing furnace. It will obviously freeze up in a New England winter. I know...

    Plumbing Schematic

Okay, so no matter where the toilets fall, I need to put a vent between them. Then I'll have to run my washer down stream a little further.

    Plumbing Schematic

That should work. My joists run that direction, so I only have to run it through 2 of them. My front toilet will actually fall between the waste branch(?) and the new washer drain.

Thanks for the clarifications. Never even considered that with he washer, but makes absolute sense(which is why you mentioned it). I'm really short on space, so I my have to run this diagonally directly to the main. Other wise, I would have to go the other direction to tie in between the...

    Plumbing Schematic

Yes, thanks! Are the horizontal branches 2"? The kitchen sink is about 7 feet from the tub, and the ceiling between will be vaulted. Am I okay to put that on a new vent stack? The tub is missing in your schematic. That would be another 1.5" vent? The toilets are on either side of the waste...

    Plumbing Schematic

I am just about done with demo, so I need to plan out my waste plumbing. I have a 4 inch main existing inline with where my two toilets will go. I will be tearing out all of the plumbing that runs to that line to rearrange the fixtures. I am trying to keep my stack in the same location, because...

    Rough Inspection with slab

Okay, I was under the impression they would want to see all of the branch joints in the wall, while checking the waste pipes. My main is in the slab. I will be digging that out and replacing it. My slab has a drop off in it, so the 3 inch line that I will run to my main will be 5' long. This...

    Rough Inspection with slab

My house is built on a slab, and I am doing a complete renovation. I am going to build up the floors on a 2x4 deck to add some insulation, and run pex home runs. My issue is going to be with my waste and vent pipes. My inspector wants to see all waste and vent lines before they are closed up...
