    Stangeness gluing PVC pipe

Thanks guys. Yes I did twist the fitting on each time and in the end I held for a while so all is soretd out now. The glue/primer must be reacting and PVC and giving off gas and pushing the fitting off - it wasn't gravity.

Strange sediment in our water, please help.

Black specs could be tank metal, white specs could be calcium or plastic (dip tue). You can check if the white particles are calcium by disolving on acid or vinegar. However, you changed your tank and you have PEX so it's shouldn't be either. I wonder if there are elbows and bends in you water...

    Stangeness gluing PVC pipe

I have done a fair bit of PVC sprinkler pipe repairs at my homes over the years but something strange happened today. I was doing a very simple thing - adding a second sprinkler head in a flower bed. I purchased a brand new set of Oatley primer and glue, and new PVC pipe. In the final joint...

Toilet supply hose plastic VS metal

Thanks Jeff. Amazon doesn't sell those and that's not something I would want to purchase from Amazon in case it was used return. I'm very careful now with water due to the massive flooding that occurred in my house.

Toilet supply hose plastic VS metal

HouseDoc, thanks for your speedy reply. Can I ask why people would use the hose with the plastic tightening nut instead of the metal nut then? I had a house once where the plastic nut cracked in an upstairs bathroom while i was on vacation. Was a total disaster. When the house was repaired...

Toilet supply hose plastic VS metal

I see toilet hoses (eg. from FluidMaster) with both plastic and stainless steel nuts on the toilet end. My toilet has plastic connector threads. Can I use the hose with the stainless nut if I thread it carefully?

Idea to remove scale from hot water line in house

Kultulz, went into a plumbing store today and came out with 2 gallons of Flow-Aid descaler and a hole in my wallet. They mix 4+1 so I'll have plenty to use. VInegar worked but takes a long time and didn't get it all. The buildup I flushed out of my pipe turns white when it dries. The stuff...

Idea to remove scale from hot water line in house

KULTULZ, the 3M T has a cartridge which I replace every 6 months. It's on the cold water inlet into the tank. As for flushing, the tank is about 2 years old now and I flushed it today for the first time. The scale particles are in the lines because I replaced the tanks and still had particles...

Frodo, out of curiosity, should inserted pipe be cut flush as in the diagram or cut at an angle?

Idea to remove scale from hot water line in house

KULTULZ, thanks for the response. I'm on city water. No idea about hardness level. It's definitely a little hard. But I have no issues at all with cold water. Also it's just one of the two hot water tanks.I'm convinced it was the A.O. Smith Vertex hot water tank that accelerated scale production...

    Kitchen sink drainage issue..

Does the drain on the new sink sit lower than the drain on the old sink? If so, could the slow draining be a gravity problem?

Idea to remove scale from hot water line in house

I want to attempt something to get rid of scale in my hot water line in my house. I need your advise to make sure I'm not going to damage the existing plumbing. First let me explain the problem, then I'll explain what I'd like to do. I'm out of ideas and really need help as this is driving...
