shower spout tight before correct alignment

Excellent point. I have a cap in my parts box, too.

shower spout tight before correct alignment

A few days have passed and I picked up the spout with the now 'old' Rectorseal on it, which has now 'set up' a bit. I was able to get satisfactory resistance and proper angle. I haven't yet put the shower head on to do a full test but I'm optimistic.

shower spout tight before correct alignment

Where do you get plumber string these days? Or does it go by some other name? I had thought of taking a grinder to the end of the spout to shorten it a bit in case it was deeper than the fitting but if plumber string exists I'd try that first.

shower spout tight before correct alignment

Installing a new shower and I was screwing the shower head spout into the right angle connector and it got tight but it's pointing at 10 o'clock and it needs to rotate around down to 6 o'clock. If I back it off to 6:00, it is way too loose. I'm surprised I've never had this situation before...

Opinions for best chop saw blade to cut Cast Iron soil pipe.

in case you were curious how cast iron pipe is made:

House settled on pipe and broke it

If water is rushing out of that crack when you use the sink, I'm a little suspicious of what's IN the pipe that may be blocking it from draining properly. Does the crack go all the way around he circumference of the line? If so then perhaps that's just what happens, but if it's a hole on the...

    A Little Humor

Went to the Ace Hardware for some parts for the sink drain I had to fix. As I left, the clerk noticed what I had and said "see you soon." I was "what?" He said "Oh, plumbing repairs always take three trips to the store." Well, OK, but not me. After I got working, I realized I needed...

Opinions for best chop saw blade to cut Cast Iron soil pipe.

How exactly does the cutter work? I mean, what's the forces and physics involved in how it snaps the pipe? If I had to guess, I'd say there are very hard wheels with wedge shaped edges that dig into the pipe all the way around and exert a tension force on it as they dig deeper with wider wedges.

Opinions for best chop saw blade to cut Cast Iron soil pipe.

I have never had the pleasure of cutting cast iron pipe, so this whole discussion was new to me. I watched a couple of youtube videos, one plumber sharing his know-how with an old well-used tool, and another short "how to use" video by Ridgid. In either case, they made using the tool look...

"normal" way to route water heater pressure relief

sadly, this is a new water heater to provide water to an addition that's too far away from existing supply.

"normal" way to route water heater pressure relief

I'm installing a new water heater in a daylight basement. It's about 12 feet from the wall where the exterior door is located. I figure I need to run a line from the heater to and through that wall and then right angle down to some distance off the ground. The wall the heater is on is a...

    What's going on here?

this is a pic from an ad for "hire a plumber to clean your drain". I can't quite figure out what is going on here. It looks like it's under the sink, but the water line is being connected to something I can't identify and what's up with that shutoff valve? Mysteryplumbing by geoffhazel posted...

I notice it's not good with stainless pinch clamps.

When you don't want to go to the store for the right part

Yeah, we don't need a cap for this line. Just squeeze it tight and I'll solder it. Crapplumbing by geoffhazel posted Mar 15, 2019 at 5:14 PM And yes, it eventually DID leak. Fortunately in an accessible spot.

Hydronic heating system device dripping slowly - why?

I'm not in Seattle, but in the city of Bellevue. The fellow that installed it was based in Seattle at the time. We don't have any fancy chemicals, just run plain water in the boiler/heating system and of course if we lose some, this fills it back up again automatically. It has never been...

Hydronic heating system device dripping slowly - why?

I have a hydronic heating system that was installed 20 years ago. This is a shot of the water "fill" line. It has valves on either side of some brass thing with an outlet on the bottom. That outlet is dripping water at the rate of 5 drips a minute - pretty slow, but more than it has in the...
