Aerobic Sprayers Run Often After Heavy Rain

I have a new to me house that is 4 years old this year. This is my first experience with an aerobic system. We have had some heavy rains recently. After the rain, my sprayers run a lot and often. I have checked the house for any leaking toilets and have not found any. The water softener has a...

Toilet Leaks at Base with Heavy Use

Thanks for everyone's input. I finally got around to replacing the wax ring. I ended up using one of the silicone covered wax rings (Perfect Seal Wax Ring from Danco) since the flange was at a slight angle. Part was at tile level and part was below tile level. This wax ring ensured a good seal...

Toilet Leaks at Base with Heavy Use

It just started happening. And by heavy use I mean there's 15-20 guests visiting one day and all are using that restroom. First time it happened, I thought maybe the shutoff valve was leaking or someone spilled something on the floor. I put something under the back of the toilet to catch any...

Toilet Leaks at Base with Heavy Use

I have a guy coming out to pump the tank. The house was built in 1987 and they didn't have a code and permits for septic until 1988 here so it's a weird setup. I only know of one tank about 50 feet from the house and there is a drain field between the house and the tank. Maybe there's a tank by...

Toilet Leaks at Base with Heavy Use

The house is on a septic tank with a drain field. I have a 1st floor half bath where the toilet works fine most of the time with occasional use. When there are a bunch of guests and the toilet gets heavy use, there is water on the floor in front of the toilet. It is not leaking at the back by...

    CPVC Weld Time?

And today I found a leak in the threads of the valve. Guess I should have used more teflon tape. What's the best fix other than redoing the whole thing? It's a slow drip. Think some plumber's putty at the threads would stop it?

    CPVC Weld Time?

Couple of pics for those who like pictures. You can see the couplers from the previous repair by someone else. First couple are the before pics. The bypass is the horizontal pipe.

    CPVC Weld Time?

Sorry, I got them confused. I am using white SCH 40 PVC, not CPVC. I let it sit for 5 hours. Slowly opened the main valve and then slowly opened the other valves since there's now air in the system. Pressure equalized and no leaks. Now I'll open up some faucets in the house and see if I can...

    CPVC Weld Time?

Edit: Sorry, I mean PVC, not CPVC. Is there no search function on the forum or did I miss it? I know I am SUPPOSED to wait 24 hours. But I'm going to need a shower before then. I just replaced a gate valve with a brass ball valve. City water from the road and 3/4" valve in the box. Switches to...

    Backflow device defective?

Putting those pipes above ground is absolutely stupid. For the backflow, I would move it away from the road and put a small building over it. It's common here to have well houses over the wells, pressure tank and backwash cleanout here in Texas. Even with those and almost no snow, those pipes...

    Water Filter Installation Woes

I assume this is something like an osmosis filter with a separate water tap and small water tank. That looks like a braided 3/8" hose ends. What does is say on the label wrapped around the braided hose?

Need to replace water softener. Recommendations?

That's 1.25", though it does drop down to 1" copper at the softener and filter. Still have good flow in all the bathrooms. The filter is there to catch sediment and calcium in the pipes that falls off from coming in to the house system. We are on a neighborhood well system with a main water...

    Replace a Garbage Disposal

I use an Insinkerator Badger 10s from Lowes. Don't worry about the 10s part number. They are the same model just numbered different for different stores so consumers can't price match a sale. Low cost, works great, and if it goes out I can replace it quick and easily.

    Replace a Garbage Disposal

Have you looked at buying a new disposal? The drain on them are pretty high up.

Need to replace water softener. Recommendations?

Picked up the new unit on Monday. Finished installing it yesterday but had a couple of threaded connections that were leaking despite having nylon tape on them. Fixed those two leaks and now it's all up and running. Added a filter too.

Need to replace water softener. Recommendations?

4 people in the house. On a regular day it's possible for 3 to be used at the same time. On a holiday weekend it's likely that all 4 showers are running plus at least one half bath and the kitchen sink. Here's a picture of the old 2" Bruner system. That is about 6 feet tall. I'm picking up the...

Need to replace water softener. Recommendations?

I gave the wrong model. It's an Autotrol 268, not a 255. Nugen SA-268/760I-70 if that helps any. System size: 12x12x59 and Brine Tank: 18x18x40

Need to replace water softener. Recommendations?

Yes, 1.25" line in and out. The original unit was 2" line in and out. 4 bath, 2 half bath. Previous owner was the neighborhood developer and I guess wanted really good pressure. He donated the neighborhood well system to the city and he got free water. I am fine with installing a 1.25" line...

Need to replace water softener. Recommendations?

I have a 24 year old house and a 24 year old Bruner water softener. Recently the piston in the head got stuck and busted the timing wheel. I'm told Culligan bought out Bruner and they would be the only ones who MIGHT be able to get parts. Of course when I called they said, "Bruner? Never heard...

    Can I reverse a P trap?

If I can't do it with compression fittings, I guess the other option would be going to glued PVC after the slip joint near the wall.
