New home with bath above garage. First winter the pipes froze and burst. Found out that other homes with this design also froze. Builder installed a shutoff valve for bathroom and say we need to winterize if the temperatures go below 32. Nothing was mentioned when I had the house built about bathroom winter issues. The builder will do nothing else.

What are my options? Pipes are near outside wall.

you could do heat tape on the lines but running water in an unheated space is a bad idea unless you live in florida

Agreed, or insulate the mess out of the water lines and cross your fingers. Especially on an outside wall. If it's north facing, I've found in my area. Those are the ones that freeze the most.

New home = no excuse. Somebody royally F'd up.

If the pipes are run in outside walls, they have to be moved. Other than that you will have to keep the garage heated

all these guys are right...relocating is your bet option....i bought a house with an amateur renovation and the pipes burst.....i tore down the ceiling and wall and cut out all water piping and moved them to the middle of the house....i did replace a shower valve the was heat traced in an in heated garage....it was in a sheet rock wall with r13 insulation its still there and has not frozen but i would never recommend that....this person had no other option...
