This all started with the need to replace the garbage disposal. The picture shows the plumbing that is currently under the kitchen sink. I'm no expert but I could identify a few issues so I want to replace all of the plumbing and do it right this time. I suspect the only option is to lower the drain pipe but wanted to hear what you all think.

Yep you're going to have to lower that drain. Also just for a reference the Trap that is currently there is on backwards so when installing the new one put it on the right way. And no accordion pieces use straight solid pipe.

And please don't try to glue the slip nut pieces like that person tried to do you either use pipe that you glue together or you use slip nut pieces
