Hello all,

I do not have ANY experience currently but I don't mind getting dirty and I work hard. I've told you that so i can tell you this.

I have an interview tomorrow with a local family owned company. I've been told that if I can make an impression on the owner I may have a decent chance as he like to mold new guys to do things his way.

Please any pointers that will help me make an positive impression on a master plumber would be very much appreciated. Or any online resources You may know of that will get my mind flowing in the proper direction. Do share :)

Just go in there with a can do attitude, say you are willing to get dirty, do what it takes to get the job done , if you are a quick learner throw that in there too.
A BIG NO NO:
Don't say that you have time restrictions like needing to be off on Tuesdays at 3 pm to play bingo with nana.
Plumbing is a trade that each job is different and you never know how long it's gonna take to finish or when you might get home, we all have a life besides work and it's understandable that you will have commitments. Just don't bring it up at interview. Bring it up later after you have proven yourself a good employee.
Hope this helps

do not wear baggy pants with your butt showing, leave your ear, nose, cheek, lip, wee wee piercings at home

the F----- word is not a good word to use in every other sentence, he will most likely drug test you,

if you KNOW you have been been hitting the bong in the last month, tell him. cause if he spends a 100 bucks to find out you did not study for the test. he is going to be pissed

do not hit on the secretary, most small shops, thats his daughter, or his sons wife.
if he asks when you can start, tell him now

most importantly, be yourself

my last little bit of advice, get your butt back in school and get a friggen degree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's wrong with playing bingo with Nana? LOL!

Good luck buddy. Be honest, show your enthusiasm, and be polite.

Don't talk about what his company is going to do for you . Talk about what you are going to do for the company . Frodo that's a good one on not hitting on the secreatery . Good advice .

And frodo I just nailed an interview with roto rooter . Finally I'm going to get the training I so desperately needed. Thank you for the great advice you been giving me and everybody else

That's great. Hope it gets you the right training. They are a drain cleaning company and their staple is cleaning drains. I started out with Drain Patrol doing just that but would take on any job that wasn't a drain. I hate cleaning drains but it's a part of doing service work. Then there are some plumbers who have rarely or never touched a sewer machine.

Roto Rooter jingle stuck in my head now

Thanks . I'm very happy working for roto rooter . Now I just have to work and study very hard to open up my own business when I'm ready
