I am in the middle of a remodel project and my wife wants to put a 2nd shower in the basement no problem right just have to cut a chunk of concrete out hook up a drain line to existing sewer line no problem but then the wife has an idea of using concrete for the base and using some cool rocks she's been collecting for some time embeding them in the concrete shower floor A is the going to be ok and B will this shower leak or what are the steps and materials I need Thanks

River rock in custom showers is actually pretty common. Especially upscale outdoor showers by pools.

Using concrete for the base is fine but doesn't serve any useful purpose. Use a Kerdi underlayment system, thinset for the rocks and then grout. Fun project, but when (if) you finish it you'll probably wish you had hired someone else to do it. You may never admit it out loud, but it is what it is. Good luck.
