I just replaced a bunch of polybutylene in my house. The last thing I want, obviously is to close up my ceiling and then get a leak, so I'm expecting every joint carefully, when I came across this:

I feel like I need to replace the length of pex and redo it. Opinions?

Seems like you already awnsered your question if you dont like the way it looks cut it out and change it .i repiped my basement and changed a couple of fittings they were probably ok but i didnt like the eay they crimped

Plastic fittings have a good track record.
I think they might have smaller openings than brass.

You will probably never have an issue with that joint. Pro-pex (wirsbo) Fittings slide into the pipe after expanding the pipe and ring. The pipe has what is called a memory effect and always want to shrink back to its original size. It’s really how far in the pipe the fitting is not that little space at the end. Take a really bright flashlight and you can see the red pipe inside the ring, hold up a fitting against that and see how far the fitting is in the pipe. Then you can make an informed decision. I’d leave it, but I’ve only done about million wirsbo joints. So take it for what it’s worth. If you can’t sleep at night about it, change it. That’s a small price to pay for your sanity.

I too would leave it. I've had a few of those, and lots of propex installed with never an issue.
Nice picture by the way. Shows the barb fully engaged, and there is never any pull-out, so as RD above stated, if you can see the inner red pipe when you look down at the inner profile, you are good.
If you need to, a picture like you took, but from ninety degrees rotated wil reveal all.

Here's another angle...

Do you have
the expanding tool to reconnect it?

Leave it, it will outlast us. I've installed thousands of feet, never had an issue. Have also seen connections done by others that were way worse than that, no problem.

Is there a problem? Don't touch it. If it's going to be in your head everyday change the thing. And move on to other worries
