With all due respect to anyone reading this,

I would strong prefer helpful pragmatic knowledge than a lecture. I question my sanity asking strangers on the internet, but I have plumbing issue compounding on top of problems I could never even to explain. The toilet upstairs, ABS Pipe, has a crack at a three way junction. It has actually been cracked for a very long time, everything is accessible - except for all the things that the rest of the world takes for granted.

I am finicky, I like things done right. I have tried the appropriate glue but due to the nature of the crack that is not a feasible option. I have faced the fact that it all needs to be cut out and replaced. Due to other events this is not a project that can happen at the moment. It was not a project that could happen several years ago. I elected to try cleaning the pipe and attempting to seal it with silicone. If nothing else it would be a stop gap measure.

Fast forwards tremendous problems and now some relative peace.. the silicone has began to release, water and other things flow downhill and it is something I want to deal without cutting out the pipe. At least not in the immediate foreseeable future. It is a crack maybe an inch a half long, right in the intersection where the plastic junction meets at a 45 degree angle. I am thinking I can just remove the silicone, scuff and clean the pipe and then EPOXY the joint. Perhaps even with reinforced fibreglass epoxy.

Naturally, the concern is whether it will bite and bond. I suppose I could test an area of pipe, but I thought I would ask if there is another product out there. If was there was not other advice besides call a plumber, or cut it out and reinstall with new parts. I am a tradesman and I understand the unattractive nature of slitting your own throat by telling others how to do your job for free themselves, however there is just really no option at this point, nor for the foreseeable future.

Thank you.

As you said you are finicky and you like things done right so the correct thing to do would be to cut out the section that is cracked and replace and even though you don't want to hear it.

If you want it done correctly hire a plumber

Sorry but I agree with voletl. The way you are doing it is not the correct way. Its sounds like its either a tee or a wye fitting. Better
call in a pro and get it done correctly and then not have to worry about it anymore.

In the meantime, call a few of the epoxy and sealant companies and ask if their product will work on ABS plastic pipe.
Many labels say that their product works on most plastics. Which of course means it doesn't work on all.

Post several good pics of the cracked pipe, from different angles and close up, farther away.

Is this a drain pipe, or is it carrying water under pressure?

This is a friendly group, but you should lose the bitchy attitude and negative baggage.
People on here like to solve riddles, not listen to whining.

There are several products that claim to be able to be brushed into a clean and dry ABS pipe crack, to seal it up.
I think they are made from ABS glue with powdered ABS mixed into them.

Also, some very sticky and strong marine adhesives used to repair small boats.

Also, if you used pure silicone caulk on the crack, you will have to remove absolutely 100% of every trace of it, nothing will stick to it.

If you want a band aid then make one. Cut up a fitting to match or fernco and clamp it to the crack with large hose clamps. May not work but it is a patch if your not going to cut out and replace
