Shower Compression drain installation

I am DYI installing a 2 piece fiberglass shower stall in my basement had the proffessional plumbers plumb in the drain line all the way to the p trap under my concrete floor. I think I mis-measured the pvc riser coming from the p trap that connects to the compression drain on my shower. Its already glued to the p trap. I think i have two problems. One the riser pvc isn' 100% level not sure if that is really a problem its not off by much, and it seams the stall i have has wiggle room. 2nd the rubber seal inside the drain that compresses after you tighten it down is above the pvc riser not under. Is this going to cause leakage? Can i cut about 1/4 off the rubber seal so that it is below the threaded nut that compresses it down? Any information is much appreciated.

Just tried uploading the 2 pics i have. Hopefully they go thru. The rubber sleave seal that grips the pvc as you can see is not as low as i think out ought to be. I believe it should be under the pvc not above

The instructions for the drain should say how high the pvc riser should be.
In my shower, the pvc pipe almost touches the shower drain grate.

If riser needs to be higher, can’t you just cut off all but about one inch of the old riser, add a slip coupling, then add a new riser?

And you can hold the new riser to keep it plumb while the glue sets.

Yeah that was a thought i dont have a whole lot of room to cut it i habe a piece of concrete really stuck on one side couldnt get that side dug up enough. I can get maybe 2 fingers on that side. So its fair to say i probably shouldnt install the hower as is?

can you get some channel locks on that riser and pull it up a bit.

Its alreaded glued in thought once it sets its damn near impossible to get it free? I dont want to disturb anything beyond that riser. I bought a pvc 2" cutter if i cant digure anything else out i will cut it and add a connection sleeve and add another riser this time i will dry fit and mark where it needs to be cut.

Pull the horizontal run up a little. Is it buried in the ground.

It is buried, i was actually able to obtain fitting from plumber supply place little extension the interior fits inside my 2" riser amd gives me anouther 2 or e inches added to the riser i think it will work out well, ill post a picture when i get it in.

I just mentioned those pipe extension fittings in a recent thread, last day or so.

Your fine, i've installed hundreds of those. When you tighten brass ring it will compress down and around. You should have received a small piece of metal with two tabs and a slot in the middle for a screwdriver. Tighten till metal hits pvc or when it starts to bend. Alittle dish soap helps with the tightening.

You are actually better having the pipe slightly below the top of the gasket, you'd be amazed what builds up between the pipe and basket.
