Symmons Temptrol Tub/Shower Tight Faucet After Spindle Replacement

I replaced the Symmons Temptrol spindle (TA-10) because it was sticking. I put everything back together but the handle is very difficult to turn on and off. Any suggestions on what I have done wrong. Thank You

Take it back out and open it up all the way and then install it. Make sure it stays open as you tighten it.

I've gotten conflicting answers on this from both Symmons tech Support and Plumbers' Youtube videos. Kind of go like this:
1. Insert Spindle into the Cap and have Spindle in the Open position i.e. Spindle against the Cap
2. Insert Spindle/Cap into the Valve Body
3. Hand tighten the Cap with the Spindle still in the Open position.
4. Use Handle to Close the Spindle buy turning it clockwise.
5. Tighten Cap with wrench.

Some of the videos show the installer closing (turning clockwise) the Spindle at the same time that they are tightening the Cap with a wrench.

I'm wondering if I have damaged the Spindle or Cap or if the Valve Body is gunked up. The unit is 30 years old and a real pain to get apart. The videos show guys using heat and hack saws in some cases.

Your getting conflicting answers because we are not at your house and seeing what you are doing.

I got a new Cap. I inserted the Spindle into the new Cap and put it into the open position. Installed Cap and Spindle and it's working!
Must have been the old Cap that was fouled up.....maybe got messed up when I initially removed it.
All is good......handle turns easily and can get cold, warm, and hot water.
